The clinical significance of occipital spikes as a sole response to intermittent photic stimulation
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1975Forty-five patients who showed occipital spikes as a sole response to IPS have been studied over a 9 year period. Occipital spikes induced by IPS are non-specific, not constantly present and in themselves are not indicative of epilepsy. Occipital spikes alone are seen in a very small percentage of clinical photosensitive patients.

Neuropsychobiology, 2001EEG changes in 27 young healthy male right-handed volunteers on intermittent photic stimulation (IPS) were estimated using global field power (GFP), EEG microstate modeling and analysis (EMMA), and low-resolution electromagnetic brain tomography (LORETA). The GFP significantly increased at flashing frequency and high harmonics.

Rivista di neurologia, 1983It has been studied the answer to the LSI in migraine subjects (166) and with tension headache (198). Only in tree cases, which on migraine and two with tension headache, the answer given is anomalous to the LSI, with a frequency like those found in "normal" population.

Nystagmus induced by intermittent photic stimulation (flash induced nystagmus (FIN))
Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1977In man, as has been shown previously in rabbits and monkeys, a nystagmus can be elicited by monocular intermittent photic stimulation. The direction of nystagmus (FIN) is always towards the stimulated eye. This nystagmus strongly resembles latent nystagmus. Here the fast phase is always directed towards the 'non-occluded' eye.
