Intermolecular Interactions in Crystals
2017The Hellmann–Feynman theorem shows rigorously that noncovalent intermolecular interactions, as in complexes, liquids and molecular crystals, are purely Coulombic in nature. The term Coulombic must be understood to encompass polarization, which includes electronic correlation and dispersion.

Intra- and Intermolecular Interactions
1982Phenomena in a world capable of supporting living organisms are determined by a hierarchy of physical and chemical principles. In this chapter we will investigate how and to what extent the molecular aspects of biology are reflected by the lowest grade of this hierarchy, i.e., the fundamental laws of atomic and molecular structure and interactions ...

Molecules and Intermolecular Interactions
2020We first take a glance over the hierarchy of the material world. Then, we learn the basics of intermolecular interaction. Its typical magnitude explains why such a description based on the identity of molecules is appropriate and the extent to which it is.

Theory of Intermolecular Interactions
1999We discuss in this lecture the theory of intermolecular interactions. The discussion will start from the case of two monomers in free space. Certain further aspects concerning crystals will then be added. Finally a few additions to the author’s recent review [1] are made.
