Glossolalia and Internal-External Locus of Control
Journal of Psychology and Theology, 1977A group of glossolalics was compared with a group of nonglossolalics on Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale. The sample of glossolalics was drawn from Foursquare Gospel and Assembly of God churches, the nonglossolalics were Methodists. There were 95 glossolalics and 79 nonglossolalics.

Psychological Reports, 1973This study investigated the factorial structure and the construct validity of the factors based on responses to a 25-item Internal-External Control Proverbs Test. 488 university students were given the series of proverbs in a battery that included the Rotter Internal-External scale.

Internal-External Control, Divergent Thinking and Levels of Abstractness
Psychological Reports, 1973This study deals with the relationship of scores on Rotter's I-E scale with scores on Guilford's Unusual Uses Tests and on a sorting task judged for level of abstractness ( n = 90 junior high students). There were no relationships between the locus of control scores and measures of uncommonness and of levels of abstractness of responses.

Psychological Reports, 1973This study investigated self-reported anxiety in internals and externals after failure or success on an experimental task. Results indicated that externals who had failed were lower in anxiety than externals who had succeeded, internals who had failed, and internals who had succeeded.

Psychological Reports, 1970The Internal-External locus of control contruct suggests that those with external orientations might be less likely to attempt to control their pregnancies. Data from a larger study including drug and alcohol use and sexual behavior showed that engagement in premarital coitus was not related to locus of construct.
