Internal-External Control, Divergent Thinking and Levels of Abstractness
Psychological Reports, 1973This study deals with the relationship of scores on Rotter's I-E scale with scores on Guilford's Unusual Uses Tests and on a sorting task judged for level of abstractness ( n = 90 junior high students). There were no relationships between the locus of control scores and measures of uncommonness and of levels of abstractness of responses.

Self-Esteem and Internal-External Control: A Validation Study
Psychological Reports, 1970A recent conceptualization of self-esteem defines it within a self-other context in an attempt to take social factors into account (Ziller, Hagey, Smith, & Long, 1969). One of the assumptions that Ziller, et al. make about their self-esteem measure is that Ss who have high self-esteem will have a higher potential for self-reinforcement.

Internal-External Control and Anxiety following Success and Failure
Psychological Reports, 1973This study investigated self-reported anxiety in internals and externals after failure or success on an experimental task. Results indicated that externals who had failed were lower in anxiety than externals who had succeeded, internals who had failed, and internals who had succeeded.

Internal-External Control as an Environmental Variable in Listening
The Journal of Experimental Education, 1972The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of student expectancy and the locus of control personality variable (I. Self-control as a correlate of an Internalizing-Externalizing symptom dimension
Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, 1973The construct of self-control was explored as a correlate of the Internalizing-Externalizing symptom dimension.Ss were 11-13-year-old boys including 26 Internalizers with neurotic-like behavior problems, 40 Externalizers with acting-out behavior problems, and 26 normals. Each group was equally divided on the basis of social-class status.

Parental Antecedents of Internal-External Control of Reinforcement
Psychological Reports, 1969Two exploratory studies were conducted involving children's reports of parental behavior and parents' child-rearing and internal-external control (I-E) attitudes as antecedents of children's beliefs that the reinforcements they receive are a consequence of their own behavior (internals). Internals, as contrasted to those who believe that reinforcements

EFFECTS OF DIRECT AND SELF-REINFORCEMENT AS A FUNCTION OF INTERNAL-EXTERNAL CONTROL
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1973The present study explored the effects of 2 factors (2 levels of generalized expectancy concerning how rewards and punishments are controlled, and 3 kinds of motivational procedures—self-reinforcement, direct reinforcement, no reinforcement) on response productivity for a simple motor task.
