Isometric training at longer muscle–tendon complex lengths: A potential countermeasure to impaired neuro‐muscle–tendon function during space travel

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Manned space exploration to distant destinations, including Mars, continues to be an aspiration of humankind. Space travel does, however, present many challenges to the body, amongst which adaptation to microgravity is perhaps the largest. For instance, both short and long manned spaceflight missions have shown substantial deleterious effects ...

Monte Carlo Uncertainty Quantification Using Quasi-1D SRM Ballistic Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2016
Compactness, reliability, readiness, and construction simplicity of solid rocket motors make them very appealing for commercial launcher missions and embarked systems. Solid propulsion grants high thrust-to-weight ratio, high volumetric specific impulse,

Resistance training tempo selectively modulates corticospinal and reticulospinal excitability in humans

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Three weeks of unilateral resistance training (RT) performed under metronome‐paced (MP‐RT) or self‐paced (SP‐RT) conditions increased strength (maximum voluntary force (MVF) and one‐repetition maximum (1RM)) but were accompanied by distinct neural adaptations.

Effect of the foam embellishments on the pedestrian safety of the vehicle front protection systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pedestrian safety related compliance requirements are very important in case of design and development of the vehicle front protection systems. Computer aided engineering impact simulations were carried out to evaluate Head Injury Criterion (HIC) of a ...

US‐Japan Alliance: Emmeshing Bilateralism Into Broader Multilateralism

open access: yesAsia &the Pacific Policy Studies, Volume 13, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the 21st Century, geopolitical confrontation between the Eurasian continental powers and the sea powers works to divide Asia. The US‐Japan alliance has transformed itself from Japanʼs asymmetrical security dependence of the Cold War period into a mutual and more integrated partnership today.

Use of precision time and time interval (PTTI) [PDF]

open access: yes
A review of range time synchronization methods are discussed as an important aspect of range operations. The overall capabilities of various missile ranges to determine precise time of day by synchronizing to available references and applying this time ...

Muscle Weakness and the Irisin–BDNF and Oxidative Stress Axis in the 60‐Day Pseudorandomised Controlled AGBRESA Bed Rest Study

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Muscle atrophy and weakness are among the most detrimental consequences of disuse, microgravity, hospitalisation and ageing. Oxidative modifications of myofibrillar proteins generated by oxidative stress may contribute to the reduced force‐ and power‐generating capacity of skeletal muscles. As part of the 60‐day AGBRESA bed rest (BR)

Helically Magnetized Plasma: From Photonic Fermi‐Arc Metal to Chirality‐Free Uniaxial Medium

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A helically modulated magnetic field in magnetized plasma realizes a photonic Fermi‐arc metal, enabling full analytical tracking of Weyl node evolution. As modulation strengthens, opposing‐chirality Fermi arcs hybridize and recombine, yielding a chirality‐free uniaxial optical medium without conventional node annihilation.

Vaporization of droplets in premixing chambers [PDF]

open access: yes
Detailed measurements were made of the structures of turbulent fuel sprays vaporizing in heated airstreams. The measurements show the size dependent vaporization and dispersion of the droplets and the important influence of the large eddies in the ...
