Hybrid rocket performance [PDF]

open access: yes
A hybrid rocket is a system consisting of a solid fuel grain and a gaseous or liquid oxidizer. Figure 1 shows three popular hybrid propulsion cycles that are under current consideration.

Varying Influence of Menstrual Cycle Phase and Hormonal Contraceptive Use on Resistance Exercise‐Induced Circulating Extracellular Vesicle and Metabolite Signalling

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Resistance exercise augments circulating extracellular vesicle (EV) and metabolite signalling in manners that assist musculoskeletal and systemic adaptations. Women are often underrepresented in exercise research and recent attention has focused on whether hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle and use of hormonal contraception (HC ...

The Future of Warheads, Armour and Ballistics / 23rd International Symposium on Ballistics

open access: yes, 2007
23rd International Symposium on Ballistics, Tarragona, Spain, 16-20 April 2007 In 1983 a â Grand Old Manâ of Ballistic Science, Dr. Robert J. Eichelberger, wrote1: â Ballistic technology is generally considered a mature technology â as it should be after centuries of intensive attention of some of the finest scientific minds of the world.â He ...

Initiation of the Ferrar Large Igneous Province Started in Southern North Victoria Land, Antarctica, With Shallow Emplacement of Sills Causing Magma‐Soft‐Rock Interaction and Phreatomagmatic Eruptions

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
Early Jurassic volcanism was in the southern north Victoria Land portion of the Ferrar Large Igneous Province preceded by multiple phases of shallow‐level intrusions of Ferrar sills into the 300 m thick cover of sedimentary rocks of the Triassic‐Jurassic Victoria Group.

Assessing Potential Landing Sites With Favorable Illumination and Accessible, Potentially Volatile‐Rich Permanently Shadowed Regions Within Artemis Candidate Landing Regions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The lunar south pole features permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) that never receive direct sunlight. These regions maintain cold temperatures that potentially trap and accumulate volatiles over geologic timescales. Within NASA's Artemis candidate landing regions, we identified 130 candidate landing sites (CLSs) that satisfy the Human Landing ...

Correlated amplitudes of potentials evoked in homologous muscles by magnetic stimulation reveal positive covariation of corticospinal output

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 3, Page 1299-1312, 1 March 2026.
Abstract figure There is positive covariation in the amplitudes of motor evoked potentials (MEPs) generated by (near simultaneous) stimulation of the two motor cortices. That is, larger responses to stimulation of the left motor cortex tend to be accompanied by larger responses to stimulation of the right motor cortex, and smaller responses to ...

The internal ballistics of a spring gun

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Physics
Abstract We consider the features of pellet motion under the elastic force acting from a decompressing spring of a finite mass. The muzzle speed of the pellet decreases as the ratio between spring and pellet mass increases. In the general case, the pellet loses contact with the spring as it is stretched.

Modeling of combustion processes of stick propellants via combined Eulerian-Lagrangian approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This research is motivated by the improved ballistic performance of large-caliber guns using stick propellant charges. A comprehensive theoretical model for predicting the flame spreading, combustion, and grain deformation phenomena of long, unslotted ...
