In this communication the author has given a theoretical treatment for the internal ballistics of a liquid fuel rocket, taking into account the variation of droplet size distribution with time during combustion. A steady state solution, independent of droplet size distribution and rate of evaporation, has been obtained.

Basic laws of thermodynamics and mechanics are used to analyse an air gun. Such devices are often employed in outdoor physics demonstrations to launch potatoes using compressed gas that is here assumed to expand reversibly and adiabatically.
