Predicting the internal bond strength of particleboard, utilizing a radial basis function neural network

Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, 1997
Abstract Development of a model to identify process relationships and predict parameter values in a continuous manufacturing operation is often a difficult undertaking. Process parameters are typically dynamic, and are functions of complex relationships and interactions between process parameters. A radial basis function (RBF) neural network was used

The Bending Strength, Internal Bonding and Thickness Swelling of a Five Layer Sandwiched Bamboo Particleboard

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
The demand for wood based material is increasing but the supply is decreasing. Therefore the price of these raw materials has increased. Bamboo provides an economically feasible alternative raw material for the wood based industry. Its properties are comparable to wood. It is also compatible with the existing processing technology.

Fracture energy vs. internal bond strength – mechanical characterization of wood-based panels

Wood Material Science and Engineering, 2012
Abstract A new testing method measuring the specific fracture energy of wood-based panels in Mode I is proposed. Three types of wood-based panels, i.e. oriented strand board (OSB), particleboard (PB) and medium density fibreboard (MDF) are investigated, using fracture energy and the industrial European standard method of internal bond strength ...

The Influence of Layer Thickness and Internal Stresses on the Bond Strength of Metal-to-Ceramic Joints

1984
Sandwich-like joints between Zr, Zr-Nb-Zr or Hf foils of different thickness and rectangular bodies of hot-pressed silicon nitride (HPSN) were fabricated by solid-state bonding at 1150 °C or 1200 °C. Bend bars of 30x5x2 mm were cut from the welded pieces and notches of variable depth a were introduced at the metal-to-ceramic interface.

The Influence of Matrix/Particle Cohesive Bond Strength on the Internal Necking Mechanism of Ductile Fracture

Metal Science Journal, 1971
AbstractAn approximate analysis of the state of plastic deformation in a ductile matrix containing second-phase particles, before and at the point of incipient internal necking between the particles, is used to estimate the matrix/particle bond strength necessary to prevent decohesion.

Bayesian Probabilistic Model for Steel-Concrete Bond Strength in Beams with Internal Confinement

This study presents a Bayesian probabilistic framework for predicting the bond strength of internally confined reinforced concrete beams, addressing the inherent limitations of conventional deterministic design models. Bond strength is formulated as a stochastic response by explicitly accounting for both epistemic uncertainty in model parameters and ...
