Electroacupuncture Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment in Vascular Dementia Rats: Potential Involvement of the Astrocyte–Synapse Axis

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Electroacupuncture significantly ameliorates cognitive impairment and synaptic damage in vascular dementia rats, showing specific advantages over nimodipine. These neuroprotective effects are closely associated with modulating the astrocyte–synapse axis to suppress neuroinflammation and enhance neurotrophic support.

ETV4 Improves Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury by Restraining YBX1‐GPX4‐Ferroptosis Cascades

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury (CIRI) is a critical pathological process following ischemic stroke, with ferroptosis being increasingly recognized as a key contributor to neuronal damage. However, the regulatory mechanisms, particularly the role of specific transcription factors like E26 transformation‐specific variant 4 (ETV4)

A Diagnostic Challenge: From Suspected Ischemic Stroke to Confirmed Herpetic Encephalitis

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Multimodal neuroimaging in a case of HSV‐1 encephalitis mimicking malignant MCA stroke: from initial CT findings misinterpreted as large territorial infarction, through decompressive craniectomy for refractory intracranial hypertension, to MRI confirmation of non‐territorial haemorrhagic encephalitis prompting CSF analysis and acyclovir therapy ...

Hydranencephaly in Neonate With Prenatal Exposure to Alcohol During Pregnancy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydranencephaly (HE) is a rare congenital condition characterized by near‐total absence of the cerebral hemispheres, replaced by cerebrospinal fluid, most commonly resulting from in utero bilateral internal carotid artery occlusion; although maternal alcohol consumption is associated with fetal neurodevelopmental abnormalities, its direct role
