Vessel Wall Injury After Stent Retriever Thrombectomy for Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion with Duplicated Middle Cerebral Artery.

World Neurosurgery, 2019
BACKGROUND Experimental evidence that stent retriever thrombectomy (SRT) may cause arterial wall damage is increasing, although histopathologic findings focused on vessel wall injury after SRT have not fully been reported in humans. CASE DESCRIPTION We

Persistent trigeminal artery with internal carotid artery occlusion

Neurosurgery, 1983
Abstract A patient with a persistent trigeminal artery and occlusion of the internal carotid artery is presented. The development and protective hemodynamic significance of this persistent embryological anastomosis are briefly discussed.

Extreme Pseudo-occlusion of the Internal Carotid Artery

Neurosurgery, 1982
Abstract Angiographic criteria for the identification of patients with angiographic internal carotid artery occlusion but with anatomical patency are presented. The presence of retained contrast material in a caudal atherosclerotic internal carotid artery stump, especially when accompanied by visualization of the internal carotid artery ...

External carotid artery stenting in symptomatic internal carotid artery occlusion

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2020
We report the case of a patient with an anterior ischemic stroke due to tandem occlusion of the left M2 segment and ipsilateral internal carotid artery (ICA), with concomitant severe stenosis of the ipsilateral external carotid artery (ECA) and contralateral ICA, and moderate stenosis of the left vertebral artery (VA); as thrombectomy was not possible,

OCCLUSION OF THE INTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY

Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1951
SINCE the introduction of carotid arteriography, many unsuspected cases of occlusion of the internal carotid artery have been discovered. In the last 13 years approximately 45 cases have been reported, the diagnosis resting to a great extent on roentgenologic evidence.

Traumatic Occlusion of the Internal Carotid Artery

Radiology, 1970
Abstract Three cases of traumatic occlusion of the internal carotid artery in the neck and a fourth case of traumatic transection of the carotid artery in the carotid canal are presented. The clinical and radiological pictures of these cases are described. Early diagnosis is vital to the patient in order that surgery may be undertaken.

Spontaneous recanalization of internal carotid artery occlusions

Neuroradiology, 1974
Three instances of spontaneous recanalization of internal carotid artery occlusion are presented. In the first, extensive extra- and intracranial lesions including severe stenoses and prestenotic aneurysmatic dilatation were demonstrated by angiography. Gradual disappearance of these alterations was shown by control angiograms.

Pseudo-occlusion of the internal carotid artery

The British Journal of Radiology, 1978
In a ten-year period, 31 cases of pseudo-occlusion of the internal carotid artery were seen; 42 carotid angiograms were available for analysis. On the first film of the series the contrast came to a tapered end in the cervical portion of the internal carotid artery in 16; extended to the carotid canal in 11; to the siphon in eight and to proximal ...

Neurologic Sequelae With Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion

Archives of Surgery, 1987
A retrospective review of the clinical course surrounding internal carotid artery occlusion (ICO) was undertaken in 97 patients with 106 instances of ICO. No neurologic symptoms could be attributed to more than half of the ICOs. Of the 52 symptomatic occlusions, 19 (37%) were associated with transient ischemic attacks and 33 (63%) with fixed strokes ...

Noninvasive Detection of Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion

Angiology, 1981
Flow in the common carotid artery is normally quasisteady with flow never approaching zero during diastole. With total occlusion of the internal carotid artery, flow in the common carotid assumes the pattern observed in the external carotid, which supplies a relatively high-resistance vascular bed. In 34 instances of total internal carotid obstruction,
