A Nonparametric Coefficient Of Internal Consistency

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1976
This paper discusses a frequency based, nonparametric measure of internal test consistency, referred to herein as coefficient alphaτ, which allows facile measurement of the significance of differences in internal consistency between tests, administrations, or scoring methods.

On the Internal Consistency of Magnitude Estimations

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1972
The data from experiments in magnitude estimation of discomfort glare and loudness are reported. A distribution of stimuli and judgments was used which allowed a check for the internal consistency of the magnitude estimations. An interval interpretation of the resulting scales for glare and loudness was found to be more compatible ...

On the Internal Consistency of the Beta II

Psychological Reports, 1984
The internal consistency of the Beta II, a recent revision of the Revised Beta Examination, was examined for a sample of alcoholic inpatients (81 men, 19 women) of low ability and socioeconomic status. They were aged 19 to 65 yr. ( M = 36.6, SD = 9.2) and had been admitted for treatment at a state agency for rehabilitation for alcoholism. Pearson inter-

Internal Consistency of Choice

Econometrica, 1993
Summary: Internal consistency of choice has been a central concept in demand theory, social choice theory, decision theory, behavioral economics, and related fields. It is argued here that this idea is essentially confused, and there is no way of determining whether a choice function is consistent or not without referring to something external to ...

Skew and internal consistency.

Journal of Applied Psychology, 2006
The effects of skew on the standardized item alpha were examined with Monte Carlo techniques. Alphas computed from normal variables were compared with alphas from lognormal variables, ranks, and skewed versus normal Likert-type variables. The extent and direction of skew were varied, as was the size of the population interitem correlation (rho), the ...

Internal consistency of FRSM specifications

Journal of Systems and Software, 1995
Abstract In recent years, research on the integration of structured system analysis methods and formal methods to provide more effective tools for industrial-scale software development has grown. One tool that has been successfully designed on this basis is the formal requirements specification method (FRSM).

Structure and internal consistency of a shoulder model

Journal of Biomechanics, 1995
A three-dimensional biomechanical model of the shoulder is developed for force predictions in 46 shoulder structures. The model is directed towards the analysis of static working situations where the load is low or moderate. Arbitrary static arm postures in the natural shoulder range may be considered, as well as different kinds of external loads ...

International assessment of the internal consistency of respiratory symptoms

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2000
Abstract We aimed to assess cross-cultural validity of the reporting of respiratory symptoms in the European Community Respiratory Health Study (ECRHS). A random sample of subjects from the general population (aged 20–44 yr), from 35 centers in 15 countries, answered a questionnaire and underwent allergy tests and airway challenge ...

Internal Consistency in Handprinting

Canadian Society of Forensic Science Journal, 1987
ABSTRACTHandprinting exemplars from 48 persons were studied to determine the extent of their internal consistency and the relationships among similarly constructed letters. Several parameters were examined including:- ratio- design features among the a, b and d- design features among the lower zones of the g, j, and y- relationship between the m and n-

Internal consistency in plausible reasoning systems

New Generation Computing, 1985
The usual approach to plausible reasoning is to associate a validity measure with each fact or rule, and to compute from these a validity measure for any deduction that is made. This approach is shown to be inappropriate for some classes of problems, particularly those in which the evidence is not internally consistent.
