Implementation of Internal Curing in Transportation Concrete

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2008
Internal curing is one method used to improve the mechanical properties and durability of concrete. Internal curing provides additional water to the hydrating cement particles that is not part of the original mixing water. The Ohio Department of Transportation (Ohio DOT) observed significant differences in early-age cracking of high-performance bridge ...

Delayed light‐curing of dual‐cure bulk‐fill composites on internal adaptation and depth of cure

Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, 2023
AbstractObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of delayed light‐curing of dual‐cure bulk‐fill composites on internal adaptation and microhardness (KHN) in depth.Materials and MethodsBulk‐fill composites were placed in 35 box‐shaped preparations and cured according to the following protocols (n = 5): Filtek Bulk‐Fill light‐cured immediately after insertion ...

Internal Curing for Concrete Pavment

2021
In concrete production, curing is of utmost importance to ensure desirable properties like strength, durability, shrinkage etc. Loss of water through evaporation reduces the hydration r ate and eventually r esults in limite d strength and h igher p ermeability.

LWA as Internal Curing Agent to Control Availability of Internal Curing Water in Concrete

MRS Proceedings, 2013
ABSTRACTThe effectiveness of lightweight aggregate (LWA) as an internal curing agent (ICA) to reduce concrete shrinkage is evaluated for repair concrete used in cultural heritage works (RCCHW) using curing periods of 30 days. Normal weight aggregate is replaced by LWA at volume replacement levels ranging from 10 to 14%.

International Terrorism: Causes, Consequences and Cures

The World Economy, 2008
A popular view is that international terrorism is on the increase, that it is religiously motivated and that it has important adverse consequences. This paper investigates this view. It examines the empirical evidence on the causes of international terrorism from the late 1960s to the early 2000s and discovers that, while religion has had a part to ...

Optimising internal curing parameters for autonomous curing of normal-strength concrete

Magazine of Concrete Research, 2023
Autogenous curing, also known as internal curing (IC), has revolutionised the way high-performance concrete (HPC) and high-strength concrete (HSC) are cured. IC improves the service life of concrete by lowering early-age cracking and enhancing durability.

International Cooperation for the Cure and Prevention of Severe Hemoglobinopathies

Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, 2013
Thalassemia major (TM) is the most frequent life-threatening noninfectious disease of childhood in the Middle East, South Asia, and Pacific Islands where it accounts for a significant proportion of childhood mortality, morbidity, and related health care expenses. In spite of major advances in supportive care during the last decade, many patients in low-

Internal War: Causes and Cures

World Politics, 1997
Since the end of the cold war internal conflicts have received unprecedented attention. Of special interest has been the effort of neorealists to employ an approach traditionally used to explain interstate conflict to make internal war understandable.
