Fast generator protection against internal asymmetrical faults

An on-line digital computer technique for the protection of a generator against internal asymmetrical faults is described in this paper. The proposed technique relies on the detection of a second harmonic component in the field current at the onset of a fault in the armature winding.

The "arc killer": the internal fault suppressor

Internal fault detection techniques for power transformers

This paper presents the methodologies for incipient fault detection in power transformers both off-line and on-line. An artificial neural network is used to detect faults off-line with dissolved gas analysis reports of transformers and whereas wavelet transforms are being used for on-line fault detection.
