Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Analysis of internal flow field characteristics in the nozzle of the three-phase jet fire monitor

open access: yesScientific Reports
As a critical component of the three-phase jet fire monitor head, the nozzle efficiently converts fluid pressure energy into kinetic energy. Optimizing its structural parameters is essential for enhancing jet performance and firefighting efficiency. This

Characterization of energy loss in jet mechanism of a Pelton turbine [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Engineering
Pelton turbines are becoming widely used in hydropower generation. However, the internal flow mechanism and energy loss characteristics of these turbines remain unclear, and there has been relatively little research in this area.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Analysis of Seasonal Differences in Internal Tidal Mean Flow in the South China Sea during Winter and Summer [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Based on the ROMS model combined with Lagrangian mean flow theory, this study calculates the M2 internal tidal Lagrangian mean flow (internal tidal mean flow) across the entire South China Sea (SCS).

Dynamic characteristics of a two-stage variable-mass flexible missile with internal flow [PDF]

open access: yes
A general formulation of the dynamical problems associated with powered flight of a two stage flexible, variable-mass missile with internal flow, discrete masses, and aerodynamic forces is presented.

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Modelling the flow behaviour, recrystallisation and crystallographic texture in hot deformed Fe-30wt%Ni Austenite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
: The present work describes a hybrid modelling approach developed for predicting the flow behaviour, recrystallisation characteristics and crystallographic texture evolution in a Fe-30wt%Ni austenitic model alloy subjected to hot plane strain ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Investigations on Hot Air Anti-Icing Characteristics with Internal Jet-Induced Swirling Flow

open access: yesAerospace
The tangential jet-induced swirling flow is a highly efficient technology for enhancing heat transfer. This paper explores the application of swirling flow of an airfoil/aero-engine in a hot air anti-icing chamber, aiming to improve the anti-icing ...
