Simulation of Internal Flow Characteristics of an Axial Flow Pump with Variable Tip Clearance

open access: yesWater, 2022
This study investigated the influence of the change in blade tip clearance on the internal flow characteristics of a vertical axial flow pump. Taking the actual running vertical axial flow pump of a pumping station as the research object, based on the SST k-ω turbulent flow model, the numerical simulation technology was used to study the effects of ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Analysis on Inner Flow Field and Hydrodynamic Force on Flexible Mining Pipeline Under Bending States

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
To investigate the internal flow characteristics of particles during hydraulic lifting in deep-sea mining risers, this study developed a three-dimensional curved riser multiphase flow model based on the Eulerian–Eulerian framework and the RNG k-ε ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

The effect of tube diameter on vertical two-phase flow regimes in small tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Flow boiling flow patterns in four circular tubes with internal diameters of 1.10, 2.01, 2.88 and 4.26 mm were investigated in the present project. The experiments were conducted in vertical upward two-phase flow using R134a as the working fluid.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Recovering the Internal Dynamics and the Shapes of Galaxy Clusters: Virgo Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We describe a method for recovering of the substructure, internal dynamics and geometrical shapes of clusters of galaxies. Applying the method to the Virgo cluster, we, first, reveal the substructure of the central 4 arc degree field of the Virgo cluster

A study of the vibration of a horizontal U-bend subjected to an internal upwards flowing air-water mixture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
U-bends are a common geometry in heat exchangers. In this paper, a U-bend in the vertical plane connected to horizontal straight pipes is considered. An initially stratified water/air flow moves upwards against gravity.
