Probing the Viscosity Dependence of Rate: Internal Friction or the Lack of Friction?

open access: yes, 2018
Deviation from the Kramers’ inverse viscosity dependence of rate, k ∝ 1/η, is often attributed to the presence of internal friction in proteins after Ansari et al.

Activation Energy Measurement of Oxygen Ordering in a Nb-Ti Alloy by Anelastic Relaxation

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2002
Metals with bcc structure are able to dissolve large amounts of interstitial element atoms in the form of oxygen. These atoms diffuse through the lattice by jumping into octahedral sites with equivalent symmetry, causing strong alterations in the ...

Melting behavior of confined Ga particles studied by internal friction

open access: yes, 2007
Gallium (Ga) particles dispersed in polymethyl methacrylate were prepared by ultrasonic vibration and sedimentation method, and the melting behavior of Ga particles was studied by internal friction method via dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA).

INTERNAL FRICTION IN PARTIALLY STABILIZED ZIRCONIA

open access: yes, 1985
Internal friction was measured by the flexural vibration method at 1-6 KHz. Internal friction peaks in partially stabilized zirconia with Y2O3 or Nd2O3 are observed at about 200 °C.

A design of the electromagnetic driver for the "internal force-static friction" capsubot

open access: yes, 2009
A capsule robot that moves utilizing the internal force between the shell and the sliding mass and the friction between the shell and the environment is named ¿internal force-static friction¿ capsubot.

INTERNAL FRICTION AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF NEW CERAMICS

open access: yes, 1985
Stress amplitude and temperature dependences of internal friction in polycrystal and single crystal aluminas and aluminas subjected to thermal shock, were measured. Microcracks introduced by water quenching were detected by internal friction measurement.

Mechanical spectroscopy study of the Cu36Zr59Al5 and Cu54Zr40Al6 amorphous alloys

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2012
A mechanical spectroscopy study of Cu-Zr-Al bulk metallic glasses, was performed with two types of equipment: a Kê-type inverted torsion pendulum and an acoustic elastometer, working in the frequency ranges of Hz and kHz, respectively, with a heating ...

The Influence of Internal Tyre Pressure on Road Friction

open access: yes
Road safety is a very important topic for research and development divisions in the automotive industry. As the tyre is the only link between road surface and vehicle, it plays a very significant role in accident mitigation and prevention.

Research on the Characteristics of Jacks Used to Rectify Tilted Buildings

open access: yesBuildings
One method of rectifying tilted buildings is by lifting them unevenly using hydraulic jacks. These jacks are loaded both monotonically and cyclically during the rectification process.

INTERNAL FRICTION IN RHENIUM

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1971
Preliminary results of internal friction measurements in rhenium between 100 and 350 °K are reported. For a frequency of about 300 Hz, an internal friction peak is observed in cold-rolled specimens at about 275 °K, together with a shoulder near 230 °K. Assuming that this peak is due to dislocation relaxation, an activation enthalpy of approximately 0.6
