Activation Energy Measurement of Oxygen Ordering in a Nb-Ti Alloy by Anelastic Relaxation

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2002
Metals with bcc structure are able to dissolve large amounts of interstitial element atoms in the form of oxygen. These atoms diffuse through the lattice by jumping into octahedral sites with equivalent symmetry, causing strong alterations in the ...

Anisotropic Internal Friction Damping

open access: yes, 2003
The mechanical damping properties of sheet polaroid material have been studied with a physical pendulum. The polaroid samples were placed under the knife-edges of the pendulum, which was operated in free-decay at a period in the vicinity of 10 s. With the edges oriented parallel to the direction of the long molecular chains in the polaroid, it was ...

Internal friction measurement in high purity tungsten single crystal [PDF]

open access: yes
Internal friction peaks observed after small deformation in high purity tungsten single crystals between liquid helium temperature and 800 K in the frequency range 30-50 KHz, are studied as a function of orientation.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Mechanical spectroscopy study of the Cu36Zr59Al5 and Cu54Zr40Al6 amorphous alloys

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2012
A mechanical spectroscopy study of Cu-Zr-Al bulk metallic glasses, was performed with two types of equipment: a Kê-type inverted torsion pendulum and an acoustic elastometer, working in the frequency ranges of Hz and kHz, respectively, with a heating ...

Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

Research on the Characteristics of Jacks Used to Rectify Tilted Buildings

open access: yesBuildings
One method of rectifying tilted buildings is by lifting them unevenly using hydraulic jacks. These jacks are loaded both monotonically and cyclically during the rectification process.

Unveiling the Role of Curvature in Carbon for Improved Energy Release of Ammonium Perchlorate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐curvature carbon materials identified via machine learning and simulation can enhance the heat release and combustion performance of ammonium perchlorate. ABSTRACT The catalytic role of carbon curvature in the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) remains largely unexplored. To address this gap, this study employs machine learning and

Estimation of the parameters of nonequilibrium grain boundaries from the high-temperature background of grain boundary internal friction

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов
The physical processes leading to the formation of nonequilibrium grain boundaries in nanocrystalline and ultrafine-grained materials are considered. The problem is solved for a two-dimensional diffusion equation on a boundary segment exposed to variable
