Change of internal friction on aluminium
The article is focused on the analysis of changes in the dependence on temperature on the aluminium alloy EN AC 51200 (10,1% Mg, 1,32% Si and 0,43% Mn) by internal friction.

Internal friction in Ba has been measured in longitudinal resonance at about 14 kHz in the temperature range between 10 K and 300 K. There exist two peaks around 37 K and 223 K resp. which are tentatively identified as α-peak and γ -peak with an activation energy of Hγ = 0.38 eV and Hα = 0.047 eV.

Measurement of Strain-Amplitude Dependent Internal Friction with Torsion Pendulum and Vibration Reed Methods [PDF]
In the traditional standard of internal friction measurement the torsion pendulum and vibration reed were preferentially recommended where the issue of strain amplitude dependence of internal friction was not concerned.

Annealing and Extended Etching Improve a Torsional Resonator for Thin Film Internal Friction Measurements [PDF]
We evaluate two methods to improve the background internal friction of the Double Paddle Oscillator (DPO), which has a nominal low temperature value of Q-1 ≈ 2×10-8. We find that annealing the DPO in vacuum at 300°C for 3 hours systematically reduced Q-1

Is internal friction friction?
Mogi [1974] proposed a simple model of the incipient rupture surface to explain the Coulomb failure criterion. We show here that this model can plausibly be extended to explain the Mohr failure criterion. In Mogi's model the incipient rupture surface immediately before fracture consists of areas across which material integrity is maintained (intact ...

Internal friction in enzyme reactions [PDF]
AbstractThe empirical concept of internal friction was introduced 20 years ago. This review summarizes the results of experimental and theoretical studies that help to uncover the nature of internal friction. After the history of the concept, we describe the experimental challenges in measuring and interpreting internal friction based on the viscosity ...

Internal friction investigation of phase transformation in nearly stoichiometric LaMnO3+δ [PDF]
Rhombohedral LaMnO3+δ powders, prepared by two different soft chemistry routes (co-precipitation and hydrothermal synthesis), are sintered at 1400 °C for 2 h in air. Measurements of internal friction Q−1(T) and shear modulus G(T), at low frequencies from
