Internal iliac artery ligation
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1966Abstract The author reviews the history of the internal iliac artery ligation, evaluates indications for its use, describes pelvic arterial circulation, and presents a simplified surgical technique. Seven cases in which the technique was used illustrate the variety of its application and implications.

Internal iliac artery ligation: Aortograms
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1966Abstract Observation of serial aortograms indicated there were three principal collateral circulations after internal iliac artery ligation: the lumbar-iliolumbar, middle sacral-lateral sacral, and superior hemorrhoidal-middle hemorrhoidal. However, the hemorrhoidal arteries functioned as a collateral circulation only if the posterior division of the

Isolated Internal Iliac Artery Aneurysms
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1982A case of bilateral isolated internal iliac artery aneurysms in a patient with sciatic symptoms is presented. Iliac artery aneurysms are rare in the absence of aortic aneurysms; they are usually atherosclerotic in nature and present most commonly with gastrointestinal, genitourinary, or neurologic symptoms.

Ruptured Aneurysm of the Internal Iliac Artery
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1982Isolated aneurysms of the iliac arteries are rare and can be difficult to diagnose. The diagnosis is frequently delayed. One patient with a ruptured aneurysm of the left internal iliac artery is presented, and the computed tomography findings are compared to those of a case of a ruptured aortic aneurysm.

Internal Iliac Artery Embolization
2011Internal iliac artery embolization is performed for patients with common iliac aneurysm extending to the iliac bifurcation who are going to be treated with endovascular repair. The embolization allows for extension of the graft into the external iliac and eliminates the potential for type II endoleak through the internal iliac artery.

A Hybrid Internal Iliac Artery Reconstruction for Open Common Iliac Artery Aneurysm Repair
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2020Common iliac artery (CIA) aneurysms present across a spectrum of anatomic variants that can pose unique operative challenges. A wide variety of procedural approaches have been described in the literature with current therapeutic options including both open and endovascular repair.

Updates in Surgery, 2020
Complete resection for retroperitoneal sarcoma (RPS) involving major vessels frequently requires vascular resection and reconstruction. The use of artificial grafts often leads to postoperative vascular graft infection (VGI), which usually requires reoperation and sometimes leads to death.

Patency of the Internal Iliac Artery after Placement of Common and External Iliac Artery Stents
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2016Treatment of severe aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD) frequently requires long-segment stenting of the common and external iliac arteries (CIA and EIA, respectively). This study aims to analyze the patency of the internal iliac artery (IIA) after placement of a CIA and EIA stents across the orifice.A retrospective analysis of all patients who ...

Endovascular Treatment of the Internal Iliac Artery in Peripheral Arterial Disease
CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology, 2007In patients with peripheral arterial disease not much is known about the relationship between the localization of the pain and the localization of arterial occlusions in the iliac arteries. Occlusions high in the iliac arteries are assumed to be able to induce pain in the buttocks and upper leg as well as pain in the calves.

Aneurysms of the Internal Iliac Artery: Management Strategy
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2001With the widespread use of CT scans, detection and treatment of internal iliac artery aneurysms (IIA) have become more frequent. In the last few years, endovascular repair has been added to the therapeutic arsenal. We reviewed the records of 38 patients treated for 44 IIA between 1987 and 1997 to assess immediate and long-term outcome using various ...
