Noninvasive in vivo photoacoustic measurement of internal jugular venous oxygenation in humans [PDF]
In many clinical conditions, such as head trauma, stroke, and low cardiac output states, the brain is at risk for hypoxic-ischemic injury. The metabolic rate and oxygen consumption of the brain are reflected in internal jugular venous oxygen saturation (sijvO2). The current gold standard for monitoring brain oxygenation is invasive; it requires jugular

Variant Anatomy of the External Jugular Vein [PDF]
Variant anatomy of the external jugular vein is important when performing invasive procedures in the neck. Although there are a number of case reports on some of these variations, there are few descriptive cross-sectional regarding the same.

Comparing the effects of intravenous injection and intranasal atomisation of detomidine in sheep
This paper compares the intravenous and intranasal routs of Detomidine administration in sheep. Abstract Background Detomidine is an α‐2 agonist sedative drug which reduces the release of norepinephrine in nerves. Administering this drug through intranasal (IN) route could cause direct transmission to the central nervous system.

Horner's Syndrome as a Complication of Ultrasound-Guided Central Cannulation: A Case Report [PDF]
Cannulation of the internal jugular vein is often necessary for the management of critically ill patients. Despite being a very common procedure and performed more and more safely, several complications still occur. Horner's Syndrome (HS) is one of those

Hemodialysis as emergency treatment of a severe baclofen intoxication in a 3 kg dog
This is the first case report describing the clinical efficacy and safety of HD as emergency therapy for severe baclofen intoxication in a dog. Dialytic elimination rate constant (Kd) was 7 times higher than the intrinsic elimination rate constant (Kintr) and the half‐life (t½) during HD was nearly 9 times shorter than the endogenous one.
