Internal Limiting Membrane Flap

2020
In this chapter, internal limiting membrane (ILM) flap surgery will be discussed. As mentioned in the first chapter, ‘ILM flap’ indicates a surgical technique to cover a retinal break using the ILM as a sheet, because ‘flap’ refers to a piece of thin material fixed along one edge for covering or closing something literally.

Internal limiting membrane: The innermost retinal barrier

Medical Hypotheses, 2017
Recently, peeling of internal limiting membrane (ILM) has become one of the most common and effective surgical procedures for macular disorders. The authors discuss the adverse effects of such procedures and explore the possible functions of the membrane.

Conventional internal limiting membrane peeling versus temporal inverted internal limiting membrane flap for large macular holes

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Purpose: To compare the functional, anatomical, and morphological results of conventional internal limiting membrane peeling versus temporal inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique for the treatment of macular holes larger than 400 μm. Design: Retrospective, comparative case series.

Internal Limiting Membrane Peel

2017
Risk factors for the development of a membrane are age, posterior vitreous detachment, and a history of a membrane in the fellow eye. Most common cause is idiopathic; however it has been associated with retinal vascular diseases, inflammatory disease, trauma, intraocular tumors, and a history of retinal tear/detachment.

Anatomy of Internal Limiting Membrane

2020
The internal limiting membrane (ILM) is a component of the vitreoretinal interface, which contributes to various diseases including epiretinal membrane (ERM), macular hole and macular edema. The vitreoretinal interface consists of the posterior vitreous cortex, the ILM and an intervening extracellular matrix.

Fovea-sparing internal limiting membrane peeling versus complete internal limiting membrane peeling for myopic traction maculopathy

Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
To compare the outcomes of vitrectomy with fovea-sparing internal limiting membrane peeling (FSIP) and complete internal limiting membrane peeling (ILMP) for myopic traction maculopathy (MTM).A retrospective, observational study. In this study, we included 22 eyes of 21 consecutive patients who underwent vitrectomy with FSIP or ILMP for MTM and were ...

TEMPORAL INVERTED INTERNAL LIMITING MEMBRANE FLAP TECHNIQUE VERSUS CLASSIC INVERTED INTERNAL LIMITING MEMBRANE FLAP TECHNIQUE

Retina, 2015
To determine if reducing the area of internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling in the inverted ILM flap technique results in satisfactory outcomes for the repair of large Stage IV idiopathic macular holes.Prospective comparative interventional study of 87 consecutive eyes. Participants were randomized into two treatment groups.

Inverted Internal Limiting Membrane Flap versus Internal Limiting Membrane Insertion Technique for Large Macular Holes: A Meta-Analysis

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2023
This meta-analysis aimed to compare and evaluate the morphological and functional outcomes between the inverted internal limiting membrane (ILM) flap and ILM insertion techniques in the treatment of large macular holes (MHs).The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched for relevant studies comparing the two techniques for the ...

Familial Internal Limiting Membrane Dystrophy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1997
To describe the clinicopathologic features of a previously unreported retinal dystrophy.Fourteen members of a single family were examined. The medical records of 2 additional family members were reviewed. Pathologic examination was performed on 2 eyes of 1 affected patient.Five individuals were identified with a retinal dystrophy characterized by a ...
