Influence of load carrying on loads in internal spinal fixators

Journal of Biomechanics, 2000
After spinal stabilization with an implant, patients want to know whether carrying loads will endanger their spine and their implant. Therefore, the effect of carrying a weight on the loading of internal spinal fixation devices was determined in 10 patients using instrumented, telemeterized internal fixators. Patients carried a 5kg dumbbell in one hand

Loads on internal spinal fixation devices

Der Orthopäde, 1999
The loads acting on internal spinal fixation devices were measured for different activities in ten patients using telemeterized bisegmental implants. The highest loads were found for walking and lateral bending of the upper body while standing. When bending forwards the upper body, the fixator loads were only slightly altered.

Phosphorus accumulation in sediments and internal loading

Hydrobiological Bulletin, 1986
Two simple conceptual approaches for the description of phosphorus accumulation and release from sediments are presented. The first model is a mass-balance over the well-mixed top-layer, and demonstrates the enhanced initial effect of sediment dilution on the long-term accumulation, which is magnified in the resulting internal loading, as a consequence

Internally loaded cylindrical shells

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1982
Simply supported cylindrical shells under internal fluid and granular loading are investigated.A Fourier series solution is presented and results are shown for various shell geometries. Experimental data are shown to agree with the theoretical solutions.

Internal phosphorus loading in shallow Danish lakes

Hydrobiologia, 1999
High phosphorus concentrations due to internal loading from the sediment with a strongly negative impact on lake water quality, is often seen in shallow lakes after a reduction of external loading. To analyse the nature of internal loading we studied 1. the seasonal phosphorus concentrations of 265 Danish shallow, mainly eutrophic lakes; 2.

Internal loads in the human tibia during gait

Clinical Biomechanics, 2009
Internal loads in long bones are of special interest, for testing and optimization of current implant designs for fracture treatment. Inverse dynamic musculoskeletal models were successfully used to determine the muscle forces in the lower extremities, however the internal loads expressed as forces and moments along the human tibia during gait have not

Integrating the Internal and External Training Loads in Soccer

International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 2014
Purpose:This study aimed to assess the relationships of fitness in soccer players with a novel integration of internal and external training load (TL).Design:Ten amateur soccer players performed a lactate threshold (LT) test followed by a soccer simulation (Ball-Sport Endurance and Sprint Test [BEAST90mod]).Methods:The results from the LT test were ...

Using Multiple Load Vehicles for Internal Transport with Batch Arrivals of Loads

1999
In previous papers, we used a simulation model to look at how different dispatching rules can be classified, and at the effects on the performance of internal transport if the release time of loads can be forecasted using a virtual release time. We concluded that centralized rules outperform decentralized rules and that the performance of internal ...

Resveratrol-Loaded Lipid Nanocarriers Are Internalized By Endocytosis in Yeast

Journal of Natural Products, 2019
Different positive pharmacological effects have been attributed to the natural product resveratrol (RSV), including antioxidant, antiaging, and cancer chemopreventive properties. However, its low bioavailability and rapid metabolic degradation has led to the suspicion that many of the biological activities of this compound observed in vitro may not be ...

On Biaxially Loaded Internal Cracks

International Journal of Fracture, 2001
The initiation of fracture is studied for an internally cracked large plate. The cracked plate is subjected to biaxial loading with different ratios of the normal load to the lateral load. The initiation of crack propagation is predicted by using a strain based mechanism of fracture.
