Triangular temporal-distribution law for disintegrating internal solitons over a step

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2018
: Internal solitary waves have been found to disintegrate into a series of solitons over variable bathymetry, with important applications for offshore engineering.

Generation of secondary internal waves by the interaction of an internal solitary wave with an underwater bank [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2003
The generation of secondary internal waves by the interaction of a large‐amplitude internal solitary wave with the Dreadnought Bank in the Andaman Sea (6°40′N, 95° 47′E) is shown by analyzing a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image acquired by the European Remote Sensing satellite ERS‐2 and by carrying out model calculations.

Synergistic Lewis Acid Photocatalysis Over Cluster‐Defect‐Engineered UiO‐66 for Efficient Liquid Biomass Upgrading

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A cluster‐defect engineering strategy is presented for the rational design of Zn‐incorporated UiO‐66 photocatalysts. Selective acid etching mediates hierarchical porosity and abundant Lewis acid sites, tailoring the electronic structure and enhancing light harvesting.

Experiments on the structure and stability of mode-2 internal solitary-like waves propagating on an offset pycnocline

open access: yes, 2015
The structure and stability of mode-2 internal solitary-like waves is investigated experimentally. A rank-ordered train of mode-2 internal solitary waves is generated using a lock release configuration.

Numerical simulations of the local generation of internal solitary waves in the Bay of Biscay [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2010
Oceanic observations from the Bay of Biscay, Portugal, Mozambique Channel and Mascarene Ridge have provided evidence of the generation of internal solitary waves due to an internal tidal beam impinging on the thermocline from below – a process referred ...

Numerical simulation of shear-induced instabilities in internal solitary waves

open access: yes, 2011
This work was supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council [grant number EP/F030622/1]A numerical method that employs a combination of contour advection and pseudo-spectral techniques is used to simulate shear-induced ...

The effects of interplay between the rotation and shoaling for a solitary wave on variable topography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents specific features of solitary wave dynamics within the framework of the Ostrovsky equation with variable coefficients in relation to surface and internal waves in a rotating ocean with a variable bottom topography.

Internal Solitary Waves in the Red Sea: An Unfolding Mystery [PDF]

open access: yesOceanography, 2012
The off-shelf region between 16.0° and 16.5°N in the southern Red Sea is identified as a new hotspot for the occurrence of oceanic internal solitary waves. Satellite observations reveal trains of solitons that, surprisingly, appear to propagate from the center of the Red Sea, where it is deepest, toward the continental shelf, but they do not survive as

Effect of Plateau Length on the Transformation of Internal Solitary Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The propagation and dissipation of internal waves over continental shelf bathymetry are complex phenomenon. The waveform would be re-generated while transmitting a submerged deep-shallow-deep topography.

Characteristics of Internal Solitary Waves near Its Generation Site in the Lombok Strait, Indonesia

open access: yesPositron, 2023
Evidence of internal solitary waves (ISWs) formation through the Lee wave mechanism in the Lombok Strait was revealed from the echosounder measurements conducted in November 2017.
