Effect of Submarine Speed on Its Motion in Internal Solitary Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Although extensive research has been carried out on the load characteristics of fixed submarines in internal solitary waves, there is still insufficient understanding of the effect of submarine speed on its motion in internal solitary waves.

W‐N‐C Tandem Catalytic Centers Mediating Efficient Charge Transfer for the Enhanced Radical‐Path U(VI) Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work constructed a tandem W−N−C center to simultaneously achieve the regulation of reaction pathways and optimization of charge separation efficiency. The Lewis‐acidic W6+ sites activated O2 to generate O2−$O_2^ - $, with enhanced charge separation via electronic modulation, steering U(VI) reduction down an efficient radical pathway.

The modified Korteweg - de Vries equation in the theory of large - amplitude internal waves [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1997
The propagation of large- amplitude internal waves in the ocean is studied here for the case when the nonlinear effects are of cubic order, leading to the modified Korteweg - de Vries equation.

Internal Solitary Waves in the Andaman Sea: New Insights from SAR Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
The Andaman Sea in the Indian Ocean has been a classical study region for Internal Solitary Waves (ISWs) for several decades. Papers such as Osborne and Burch (1980) usually describe mode-1 packets of ISWs propagating eastwards, separated by distances of

Higher-Order Benjamin–Ono Model for Ocean Internal Solitary Waves and Its Related Properties

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
In this study, the propagation of internal solitary waves in oceans at great depths was analyzed. Using multi-scale analysis and perturbation expansion, the basic equation is simplified to the classical Benjamin–Ono equation with variable coefficients ...

Sparse Pd–Te Covalent Bridges Drive Anomalous Bulk‐to‐Monolayer Electronic and Magnetic Evolution in FePd2Te2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bulk FePd2Te2 contains sparse interlayer Pd–Te covalent bonds, giving it unexpectedly low exfoliation energy and enabling van der Waals‐like exfoliation. Cleaving these bonds during exfoliation makes the monolayer magnetically distinct from the bulk: magnetic anisotropy energy increases, and the strain‐response coefficient of the magnetic moment ...

Transformation of internal solitary waves at the "deep" and "shallow" shelf: satellite observations and laboratory experiment [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2013
An interaction of internal solitary waves with the shelf edge in the time periods related to the presence of a pronounced seasonal pycnocline in the Red Sea and in the Alboran Sea is analysed via satellite photos and SAR images.

Structure of internal solitary waves in two-layer fluid at near-critical situation

open access: yes, 2015
A new model equation describing weakly nonlinear long internal waves at the interface between two thin layers of different density is derived for the specific relationships between the densities, layer thicknesses and surface tension between the layers ...

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses
