Innovative confinement of concrete using passive, active, and hybrid FRP–SMA systems: Experimental evaluation of mechanical performance

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Concrete is recognized for its exceptional compressive strength; however, it exhibits inherent brittleness when subjected to uniaxial compressive stress, which restricts its structural resilience and ductility.

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Progressive damage mechanism of rock-anchoring interface under cyclic impact loading

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cyclic impacts induce progressive fatigue damage at the rock–anchoring interface, thereby compromising the stability of deep roadway support systems. In this study, the split Hopkinson pressure bar and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance techniques were

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...
