Evolution of internal stresses in rolled Zr702α
International audienceInternal stresses due to anisotropic thermal and plastic properties were investigated in a rolled Zirconium-alpha. The thermal stresses induced by a cooling process were predicted using a self-consistent model and compared with ...

Characterising of internal stresses in duplex coating by FEM
The internal stresses in a duplex coating involving a prequenched layer are believed to change if it is exposed to thermal loading. To characterise the internal stresses in such a duplex coating, a gradient model of finite element method is set up.

The findings of Adler, Werner, and Korsch1 in their study of 94 pediatric interns at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital (LACH) should be viewed with concern. At the end of their first year of training, these interns expressed less satisfaction from patient care in general and a decrease in appreciation for the social and emotional factors contributing

An assessment of stress in Irish interns
Medical Teacher, 2012Dear SirHigh levels of stress have been identified as an issue for doctors. Research shows that stressed doctors do not produce quality patient care and are more likely to make errors when treating...

Abstract The internal stress in films prepared by ion beam sputtering (IBS) was investigated as a function of the acceleration voltage V a of the sputtering argon ions and the film thickness. IBS films of nickel and zirconium have strong compressive stresses of the order of −10 10 dyn cm −2 at V a = 1.1 kV, which decrease with decreasing ...

Oxidative stress and Mrp2 internalization
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2006Oxidative stress in the liver is sometimes accompanied by cholestasis. We have described the internalization of multidrug resistance-associated protein 2/ATP-binding cassette transporter family 2 (Mrp2/Abcc2), a biliary transporter involved in bile-salt-independent bile flow, under ethacrynic acid (EA)-induced acute oxidative stress in rat liver ...

Health and stress in Australian interns
Internal Medicine Journal, 2003Abstract Over a 3‐year period, interns completed questionnaires on self‐reported health and stress during their orientation week at the beginning of the year, during mid year, and at the end of the first year. Interns experienced increased levels of stress and ill health in the middle of the year as compared with the start and end of the year (χ2 ...

Internal Stresses in a Solid with Dislocations
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2004Formulas for calculating internal stresses in a material generated by continuously distributed dislocations are found on the basis of the gauge theory of defects. It is shown that internal stresses are self-balanced and satisfy equilibrium equations and boundary conditions in the absence of external loads.
