Internal waves and acoustic variability

IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society. OCEANS'98. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36259), 2002
During October 1994 and 1996 acoustic experiments were conducted in the Western Mediterranean off Nice in a region characterised by strong near-surface stratification and deep water. Transmissions at a frequency around 2000 Hz were made over ranges of 2-50 km from a ship to a coastal receiving array.

Disequilibrium 3: Internal Variables

1993
In Chapters 2, 3, and 4, the usefulness of the concept chemical potential has been explored for describing and predicting movement of material from point to point in space—from a location where a component's potential is high to a location where its potential is lower.

Internal Variables and Microinertia

2017
It is shown that inertial terms appear naturally in the thermodynamic theory with dual internal variables and the conditions of their appearance is well understandable in terms of mechanical notions. This demonstrates the difference between the standard single internal variable theory and the dual internal variables concept.

Thermoelasticity with Dual Internal Variables

Journal of Thermal Stresses, 2011
The extension of the thermoelasticity theory by weakly non-local dual internal variables enriched by an extra entropy flux for the thermomechanical description of the behavior of microstructured solids is presented. The internal variables take into account the distributed effect of microdeformations or microtemperatures (and their gradients) on the ...

Variables Influencing International Trade

2000
In the chapters to follow, the actual levels of imports moving into various countries were measured, while controlling for some of the other important factors that may have influenced these import levels. The analyses that were undertaken were based on the actual import levels among countries as a means of identifying those states that have imported ...

State Profiling of Internal Variables

2014 IEEE Seventh International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops, 2014
Execution profiles form the basis of many dynamic program analysis techniques developed to solve problems in fields such as software testing, fault localization, and program comprehension. A typical profile comprises information that approximates the execution path of a program, specifically, the frequency of occurrence of program elements that are ...

Variable Flow Internal Gear Pump

Fluid Power Systems and Technology, 2001
Abstract A variable flow internal gear pump is a fixed displacement unit where timing can be varied with respect to the gearing to reduce the net outgoing flow from the delivery volume. Usually, in IC engines lubrication, and at high engine speed, a reduction of the net outgoing flow from the pump is achieved via flow recirculation to ...

Internal State Variable Theory

2005
Many practical problems of interest deal with irreversible, path dependent aspects of material behavior, such as hysteresis due to plastic deformation or phase transition, fatigue and fracture, or diffusive rearrangement. Some of these processes occur so slowly and so near equilibrium that attendant models forego description of nonequilibrium aspects ...

International Water Scarcity and Variability

2016
This book provides an interdisciplinary approach for considering international water management under conditions of increased scarcity and variability (both present and future as a result of climate change). The book applies a theory that is rooted in the disciplines of international relations and economics to the analysis of scarcity, variability, and
