Measurement and correlates of internalized homophobia: A factor analytic study
Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1996We developed a scale to measure internalized homophobia in men who have sex with men, which is comprised of items derived from theoretical and clinical reports of internalized homophobia. Two hundred two men who have sex with men and who attend "Man to Man" sexual health seminars in a midwestern U.S. city completed the scale at baseline.

Psychotherapeutic Implications of Internalized Homophobia in Gay Men
Journal of Homosexuality, 1982This article describes a psychodynamic model of affirmative psychotherapy for gay men. Special note is made of the clinical issues, which arise form anti-homosexual attitudes that bias the psychological development of the homosexual male. In particular, the way in which identity formation is affected by heterosexual socialization is discussed.

Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of the Internalized Homophobia Scale
Archives of Sexual Behavior, 2006The current study examined the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Internalized Homophobia Scale (IHS; Herek, Cogan, Gillis, & Glunt, 1997) in gay men living in Turkey. Participants were 132 men in romantic, intimate, or sexual relationships with men, and they identified themselves as homosexual (n=112) or bisexual (n=20).
