The Skeleton Frame as a Crucial Part of Body Weight: Comparison to Metropolitan Life Insurance Data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science and Research (IJSR), 2023
: Background: The study presents a new anthropometric model, Dahlmann-Body-Analysis (DBA), for the specific estimation of reference body weight (Ref-W) based on the individual structure of skeleton frame.

Towards a vertical datum standardisation under the umbrella of Global Geodetic Observing System

open access: yesJournal of Geodetic Science, 2012
Most of the existing height systems refer to local sea surface levels, are stationary (do not consider variations in time), and realise different physical height types (orthometric, normal, normal-orthometric, etc.).

Impact of terrestrial reference frame realizations on altimetry satellites orbit quality, global and regional sea level trends: case ITRF2014 versus ITRF2008

open access: yes, 2018
. A terrestrial reference frame (TRF) is a basis for precise orbit determination of Earth orbiting satellites, since it defines positions and velocities of stations tracking data of which is used to derive satellite positions.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.
