5G or Wi-Fi for HA/DR in the 60 GHz Band? [PDF]
This paper studies the feasibility of Wi-Fi and 5G technologies in the unlicensed 60 GHz band for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) operations. Building a wireless communications system in the 60 GHz band can benefit HA/DR activities for two reasons: (i) no license is needed; (ii) a wide bandwidth is available.

Tigrinya Neural Machine Translation with Transfer Learning for Humanitarian Response [PDF]
We report our experiments in building a domain-specific Tigrinya-to-English neural machine translation system. We use transfer learning from other Ge'ez script languages and report an improvement of 1.3 BLEU points over a classic neural baseline. We publish our development pipeline as an open-source library and also provide a demonstration application.
