Early Detection of Cell Death Using Transmembrane Water Exchange Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cell death is important in both the development and treatment of cancer. In this study, it is demonstrated for the first time that a specific measurement of the transmembrane water exchange rate using magnetic resonance imaging can be used as an early marker of cell death in mammalian cells, in animals and in human patients. Abstract Cell death plays a

International Law and Otherness

open access: yes
This paper is forthcoming as a chapter in the Handbook of International Law, Olivier de Frouville and Sarah Jamal (eds) Wiley, 2025. This chapter examines how international law produces and sustains practices of negative Othering. It traces the roots of exclusionary legal mechanisms to the colonial foundations of international law, where sovereignty ...

A Closed‐Loop‐Capable Neural Interface Platform for Deep Brain Modulation via Integrated Non‐Viral Gene Delivery, NIR Optogenetics, and Electrophysiological Recording

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional, 3D porous neural interface combines non‐viral gene delivery and NIR optogenetics to enable minimally invasive, closed‐loop modulation of deep‐brain circuits. Abstract Closed‐loop neuromodulation requires precise, stable, and cell‐specific control of neural circuits with minimal invasiveness.

Aptamer Engineering: Strategies for Discovering Functional Nucleic Acids for Next‐Generation Diagnostics and Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The advent of aptamers has highlighted their potential as alternatives to antibodies, overcoming limitations of structural instability and production cost. However, conventional approaches such as SELEX remain slow and labor‐intensive. This review examines recent advances in aptamer engineering, emphasizing in vitro and AI‐driven in silico strategies ...
