Embodied Interoception Questionnaire (Intero‐10): Development, Validation, and Application in People With Neuropathic Chronic Pain

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Embodied interoception refers to the perception of the body's state and is a multidimensional cognitive process. Pain experience feeds interoceptive networks with information from the state of the body and the subjective experience of pain would be influenced by an individual's trait embodied interoceptive profile.

The Meaning of Pain in the Clinical Management of Patients With Disorders of Consciousness: Is It a Neglected Issue?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pain is a critical yet frequently underestimated component in the care of patients with acquired brain injury (ABI) and disorders of consciousness (DoC). Because these individuals often lack the ability to communicate verbally or purposefully, clinicians face substantial challenges in recognizing and managing pain, despite its ...

On the generalised embodiment of pain: how interoceptive sensitivity modulates cutaneous pain perception

open access: yes, 2012

Individual Cognitive Remediation Therapy and Individual Emotion Skills Training for Anorexia Nervosa: A Case Series Study in a Paediatric Ward

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 952-959, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN) often present cognitive rigidity, impaired decision‐making, and difficulties processing emotions, all of which can impede engagement in treatment. The marked rise in paediatric hospitalisations for AN during the COVID‐19 pandemic highlights the urgent need for brief, targeted interventions in

The influence of affective touch on interoceptive and exteroceptive sensory integration in infants: evidence from heartbeat-evoked and event-related potentials

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
IntroductionThe daily accumulation of multimodal interactions with a primary caregiver is thought to integrate interoceptive and exteroceptive information in the infant brain, which may contribute to the development of social cognition.

Neuroimaging Correlates of Post‐Stroke Pain After Ischemic Stroke: Secondary Analysis of the INSPiRE‐TMS Trial

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 10, July 2026.
In 1022 minor ischemic stroke patients, baseline anxiety was associated with new severe pain at 1 year. In the MRI subgroup (N = 391), lesion network mapping implicated a distributed network including the insula, anterior cingulate cortex, and thalamus; Neurosynth decoding showed the highest similarity to pain and nociception terms.

Relative Contributions of Gastrointestinal‐Specific Hypervigilance and Anxiety in Explaining Eating Disorder Symptoms

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 1078-1085, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Gastrointestinal (GI) disturbances and eating disorder symptoms commonly co‐occur. Hypervigilance and anxiety about GI symptoms may motivate eating disorder behaviors to manage and/or avoid GI symptoms. We hypothesized that GI‐specific anxiety would be more strongly associated with dietary restriction and purging than GI‐specific ...

Preclinical models for evaluating psychedelics in the treatment of major depressive disorder

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 14, Page 3970-3991, July 2026.
Psychedelic drugs have seen a resurgence in interest as a next generation of psychiatric medicines with potential as rapid‐acting antidepressants (RAADs). Despite promising early clinical trials, the mechanisms which underlie the effects of psychedelics are poorly understood.
