Development of leftover rice/gelatin interpenetrating polymer network films for food packaging

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2021
Waste biomass can be used as a raw material for food packaging. Different concentrations of gelatin (GEL) were introduced into the leftover rice (LR) system to form an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) for improving the properties of the films.

Dynamical behavior of microgels of interpenetrated polymer networks [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2017
Microgel suspensions of an Interpenetrated Polymer Network (IPN) of PNIPAM and PAAc in D2O have been investigated through dynamic light scattering as a function of temperature, pH and concentration across the Volume Phase Transition (VPT).

A Novel Device-Integrated Drug Delivery System for Local Inhibition of Urinary Tract Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Background: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is a frequent community-acquired infection and the most common nosocomial infection. Here, we developed a novel antimicrobial catheter concept that utilizes a silicone-based interpenetrating

A highly sensitive breathable fuel cell gas sensor with nanocomposite solid electrolyte

open access: yesInfoMat, 2019
The present work deals with a poly(vinyl alcohol)‐based membrane mixed with poly(4‐styrenesulfonic acid) to be used as a proton‐conducting solid‐state electrolyte in an electrochemical gas sensor for the detection of alcohol. A cross‐linking bonding semi‐

Development of Gallic Acid-Modified Hydrogels Using Interpenetrating Chitosan Network and Evaluation of Their Antioxidant Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
In this work, antioxidant hydrogels were prepared by the construction of an interpenetrating chitosan network and functionalization with gallic acid. The poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) p(HEMA)-based hydrogels were first synthesized and subsequently ...

Thermo-responsive gels that absorb moisture and ooze water

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Most smart hydrogels are used in their wet state and determination of their phase transition behaviour in the dried state is lacking. Here the authors investigate the thermo-responsive behaviour of an interpenetrating polymer network gel comprising of ...

Semi–interpenetrating networks based on epoxy resin and oligophosphonate: Comparative effect of three hardeners on the thermal and fire properties

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
Traditional materials are being constantly replaced by synthetic polymers, most of which are highly flammable. Epoxy resins are versatile and among the most important class of polymers, due to their multiple crosslinking capacity endowed by the oxirane ...
