Echocardiography in Planned Interruption of the Inferior Vena Cava
Southern Medical Journal, 1989Interruption of the inferior vena cava by the transvenous placement of a filter or umbrella effectively prevents pulmonary embolism by acting primarily as a physical barrier to emboli. Such a device will be effective only if the site of thrombosis is distal to the planned placement site.

Interrupted Inferior Vena Cava and LeftâSided Subrenal Inferior Vena Cava
Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2003An interrupted inferior vena cava (IVC) and a left-sided subrenal (postrenal) IVC with azygos or hemiazygos continuation are very rare anomalies of the IVC. The prenatal sonographic and color Doppler features of these anomalies are reported here.

Interruption of the Inferior Vena Cava With Azygos Continuation
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 2017Abstract This report describes a 19-year-old man with interruption of the inferior vena cava with azygos continuation. Both radionuclide venography and MRI clearly showed venous return of the lower limbs through prominent collateral systems.

Inferior Vena Cava Interruption: How and When?
Annual Review of Medicine, 2000Interruption of the inferior vena cava (IVC) to prevent pulmonary embolism arising from venous thrombi in the lower extremities has become widely used since IVC filters became available about 30 years ago. However, reliable data regarding efficacy and safety of IVC filters are still lacking.

Emergency Interruption of the Inferior Vena Cava: A Debatable Issue
Cardiovascular Surgery, 2000In spite of improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of thromboembolic disease, pulmonary embolism continues to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Anticoagulation remains the preferred therapy for deep venous thrombosis; however, this form of treatment is either ineffective or contraindicated for some patients. For these patients, partial

The Cavaportal Shunt in Interruptions of the Suprarenal Inferior Vena Cava
Archives of Surgery, 1979Abrupt interruption of the suprarenal inferior vena cava can have dramatic consequences and can be difficult to repair successfully. In the case reported, an excellent result was obtained by a cavaportal anastomosis, with minimal consequences on renal and hepatic functions.

Requirements for a Method of Transvenous Inferior Vena Cava Interruption
Archives of Surgery, 1980Six requirements were defined that would characterize a safe and effective technique of transvenous inferior vena cava (IVC) interruption: (1) the instrument should be placed transjugularly under local anesthesia; (2) the instrument should have "built-in" capability for venography; (3) the technique should produce complete occlusion of the IVC; (4) the

Supraventricular Tachycardia in a Patient with an Interrupted Inferior Vena Cava
Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2016The noncoronary cusp and aortomitral continuity should be evaluated for early atrial activation when atrial tachycardias are noted to arise near the His bundle region, especially when the activation is diffuse around the His and when the P-wave morphology predicts a left atrial focus. In patients with congenital anomalies, alternate routes for catheter

Hematuria Caused by Infrahepatic Interruption of the Inferior Vena Cava
Journal of Urology, 1988We report a case of infrahepatic absence of the inferior vena cava, which was believed to be the cause of painless gross hematuria. Diagnosis was based on the results of computerized tomography and venacavography. Hemodynamic studies showed normal pressure in the inferior vena cava, superior vena cava and portal vein.
