Seizure After Levobupivacaine for Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2003This case report describes a patient who demonstrated generalized seizure activity after an injection of 30 mL of levobupivacaine 0.5% for interscalene brachial plexus block. No evidence of cardiovascular toxicity was noted.

Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block
2016In the pediatric population, interscalene and supraclavicular blocks are not as commonly performed as blocks at the axillary level since the risks associated with a proximal technique deter many practitioners. These risks include pneumothorax, vertebral artery puncture and injection, epidural or intrathecal injection, phrenic nerve blockade resulting ...

Applying ultrasound imaging to interscalene brachial plexus block
Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2003Previous studies have examined ultrasound-assisted brachial plexus blocks, but few have applied this imaging technology to the interscalene region. We report a case of interscalene brachial plexus block using ultrasound guidance to show the clinical usefulness of this technology.A nerve stimulator-guided interscalene block was attempted for ...

Interscalene brachial plexus block anesthesia for upper extremity surgery
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1986Use of the interscalene brachial plexus block for upper extremity anesthesia in a primarily rheumatoid population is reviewed in 88 cases. The interscalene approach described by Winnie was used. Anesthesia was effective in 93% of the cases. Failure to achieve anesthesia was more likely to occur in surgical procedures on the distal upper extremities ...

Permanent upper trunk plexopathy after interscalene brachial plexus block
Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing, 2015Interscalene brachial plexus block (IBPB) has been widely used in shoulder surgical procedures. The incidence of postoperative neural injury has been estimated to be as high as 3 %. We report a long-term neurologic deficit after a nerve stimulator assisted brachial plexus block. A 55 year-old male, with right shoulder impingement syndrome was scheduled

Superficial Cervical Plexus Neuropathy After Single-Injection Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2009Interscalene brachial plexus block (ISB) using the modified lateral approach provides a well-established method of anesthesia and analgesia for patients undergoing shoulder surgery. Considering the neural anatomy at the site of injection, the superficial cervical plexus may be at risk of injury.
