Designing for intersectional, interdependent accessibility
Communication Design Quarterly, 2019Drawing on narratives (Jones, 2016; Jones & Walton, 2018) from bilingual technical communication projects, this article makes a case for the importance of considering language access and accessibility in crafting and sharing digital research.

A Call for Intersectional Healthcare Design Research
HERD: Health Environments Research & Design Journal, 2020The majority of patient experience research has been conducted in culturally Western contexts without controlling for cultural and demographic variation. Designers are left with little choice but to apply contextually specific and demographically neutral research to a wide range of healthcare systems, cultural contexts, and demographic conditions.

Maximizing Intersection Capacity through Unconventional Geometric Design of Two-Phase Intersections
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2012Typical four-phase, four-legged intersections often operate inefficiently and severely restrict vehicle throughput, and thereby cause large delays. These configurations are limited by traditional geometric design. Altering the geometry of the entire intersection can significantly increase the capacity.

Expressive Design: An Intersection of Design and Meaning
2021Good product design is an appropriate balance of form, function, and value. As form becomes more and more commoditized, manufacturing materials and processes are easily accessible and technologies are less and less proprietary. Creating value has become a more significant component of the product development process.
