On the Structure–Property Relationship of Semi‐Coherent FeCr2O4/Cr2O3 Spinel/Corundum Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics simulations of semi‐coherent spinel/corundum interfaces reveals intimate connections between the chemistry of the interface, the misfit dislocation structure, and the properties of these interfaces. In particular, the thermodynamics and kinetics of defects are greatly influenced by the chemistry and structure of the interfaces ...

The Impact of Gas Cluster Ion Beam Sputtering on the Chemical and Electronic Structure of Methyl Ammonium Lead Iodide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explores the impact of argon gas cluster ion beam (GCIB) sputtering on methylammonium lead iodide perovskite films. Short‐term GCIB exposure effectively cleans surfaces without degradation, unlike prolonged sputtering which degrades the sample.

Electrochemical Modulation of Hole Extraction in NiO/Perovskite Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The influence of hole depletion/accumulation on the hole extraction is evaluated in NiO/perovskite bilayers by transient spectroelectrochemical measurements. Metal‐halide perovskite thin films with different valence band positions are prepared, and the influence of band offset on the hole extraction kinetics is studied.

Crystallization Dynamics of Hybrid Perovskite Mediated by a Biopolymer: From Precursor Solution to Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In order to better understand the complex crystallization dynamics of starch‐assisted metal halide perovskites (MHPs), the properties of colloidal precursor suspensions and the thermodynamic evolution of the crystallization reaction are investigated by a comprehensive set of characterization techniques, from solutions to films.

An Atomic‐Scale View at γ’‐Fe4N as Hydrogen Barrier Material

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the efficacy of γ’‐Fe4N nitride layers, formed via gas nitriding, as hydrogen permeation barriers. Advanced characterization, hydrogen permeation analysis, and DFT calculations reveal a 20 fold reduction in hydrogen diffusion at room temperature.
