By probing early embryogenesis and regeneration, interspecies chimeras provide a unique platform for discovery and clinical use. Although efficient generation of human:animal chimeric embryos remains elusive, recent advancements attempt to overcome incompatibilities in xenogeneic development and transplantation.

Equine interspecies aggression
Veterinary Record, 2006SIR, — There are relatively few recorded incidents of equine interspecies aggression. Anecdotal reports (I. Griffiths, personal communication; F. Dale, personal communication) suggest that such events are not uncommon, and [Fraser (1992)][1] notes that horses may direct aggression against ...

Interspecies extrapolation encompasses two related but distinct topic areas that are germane to quantitative extrapolation and hence computational toxicology-dose scaling and parameter scaling. Dose scaling is the process of converting a dose determined in an experimental animal to a toxicologically equivalent dose in humans using simple allometric ...

Interspecies transmission of prions
Biochemistry (Moscow), 2011Mammalian prions are infectious agents of proteinaceous nature that cause several incurable neurodegenerative diseases. Interspecies transmission of prions is usually impeded or impossible. Barriers in prion transmission are caused by small interspecies differences in the primary structure of prion proteins.

Interspecies Allometric Scaling
2010Lack of approved pharmaceutical agents and very limited pharmacokinetic data in the scientific literature for exotic, wildlife, and zoo species are a major issue for veterinarians treating these species. There are fewer than 15 compounds approved in the United States for zoo and wildlife species compared to nearly 300 drugs licensed for cattle.

This chapter addresses the emerging research area of interspecies relations and its intersection with environmental political theory. Interspecies work engages with the ways that material and conceptual relations between different living species are connected to ecological and political outcomes.

Deconvoluting Interspecies Bacterial Communication
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2012The universal bacterial signal molecule autoinducer-2 (AI-2) is derived from 4,5-dihydroxy-2,3-pentanedione (DPD). DPD exists in a complex equilibrium between multiple forms, and NMR spectroscopy has now been used to establish that the extent of the structural diversity displayed by DPD over a broad pH range is even greater than previously posited.

Interspecies Interactions surveys the rapidly developing field of human-animal relations from the late medieval and early modern eras through to the mid-Victorian period. By viewing animals as authentic and autonomous historical agents who had a real impact on the world around them, this book concentrates on an under-examined but crucial aspect of the ...
