A theoretical study of the conversion of gas phase methanediol to formaldehyde [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Methanediol, or methylene glycol, is a product of the liquid phase reaction of water and formaldehyde and is a predicted interstellar grain surface species.

Chemie im interstellaren Raum

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1977
The parameters of the interstellar chemistry have been discussed: the cosmic abundance of elements, the mass and density of the gaseous component in the interstellar space, the temperature, the source of free energy, the stability of the molecules in ...

Systems Astrochemistry: A New Doctrine for Experimental Studies

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2021
Laboratory experiments play a key role in deciphering the chemistry of the interstellar medium (ISM) and the formation of complex organic molecules (COMs) relevant to life.

Multi-line Observations, Models, and Data Needed to Understand the Nature of UV-irradiated Interstellar Matter [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2022
Far-ultraviolet photons from OB-type massive stars regulate the heating, ionization, and chemistry of much of the neutral interstellar gas in star-forming galaxies.

Time-resolved relaxation and fragmentation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons investigated in the ultrafast XUV-IR regime

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons play an important role in interstellar chemistry, where interaction with high energy photons can induce ionization and fragmentation reactions.

Interstellar Chemistry: Radiation, Dust and Metals [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2008
AbstractAn overview is given of the chemical processes that occur in primordial systems under the influence of radiation, metal abundances and dust surface reactions. It is found that radiative feedback effects differ for UV and X-ray photons at any metallicity, with molecules surviving quite well under irradiation by X-rays.

Isolation of a Highly Reactive CBNC Heterocumulene via Azidoborylene Photolysis: Facile Access to a Crystalline Dioxaborirane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Azidoborylene photolysis results in the isolation of a reactive C═B═N═C heterocumulene bearing an ambiphilic boron centre. Addition of 3O2 to this species results in the clean conversion to a unique example of a dioxaborirane. ABSTRACT Oxidation of the formal boron(0) complex MeCAAC2B in the presence of tetrabutylammonium azide leads to the formation ...

The interstellar chemistry of C3H and C3H2 isomers. [PDF]

open access: yesMon Not R Astron Soc, 2017
We report the detection of linear and cyclic isomers of C3H and C3H2 towards various starless cores and review the corresponding chemical pathways involving neutral (C3Hx with x=1,2) and ionic (C3Hx+ with x = 1,2,3) isomers. We highlight the role of the branching ratio of electronic Dissociative Recombination (DR) reactions of C3H2+ and C3H3+ isomers ...
