Organic molecules in translucent interstellar clouds. [PDF]

open access: yesOrig Life Evol Biosph, 2014
Absorption spectra of translucent interstellar clouds contain many known molecular bands of CN, CH+, CH, OH, OH(+), NH, C2 and C3. Moreover, one can observe more than 400 unidentified absorption features, known as diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs), commonly believed to be carried by complex, carbon-bearing molecules.

First Principles Rovibronic Absorption Spectra of HF Molecule. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Comput Chem
Hydrogen fluoride (HF) is astrophysically important, as it has been detected in sunspots, Venus, red giants, and the interstellar medium, serving as a probe of exoplanet atmospheres. This article presents an ab initio investigation of HF rovibronic spectroscopy, combining high‐level electronic‐structure data with nuclear‐motion solutions and refinement

Mid-infrared Spectroscopy of Protonated Benzonitrile, 2-Cyanonaphthalene, and 9-Cyanoanthracene for Astrochemical Consideration. [PDF]

open access: yesChemphyschem
Experimental infrared absorption spectra of three protonated cyano‐substituted PAHs measured by infrared multiple photon dissociation using the free‐electron laser Free‐Electron Laser for Infrared eXperiments are studied. These spectra are compared to an emission spectrum measured by JWST, and the largest measured protonated cyano‐PAH, cyanoanthracene,

CaFe interstellar clouds [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2007
A new kind of interstellar cloud is proposed. These are rare (just a few examples among ∼300 lines of sight) objects with the Ca I 4227-Å, Fe I 3720-Å and 3860-Å lines stronger than those of K I (near 7699 Å) and Na I (near 3302 Å). We propose the name ‘CaFe’ for these clouds.

Dust evolution, a global view I. Nanoparticles, nascence, nitrogen and natural selection … joining the dots [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2016
The role and importance of nanoparticles for interstellar chemistry and beyond is explored within the framework of The Heterogeneous dust Evolution Model for Interstellar Solids (THEMIS), focusing on their active surface chemistry, the effects of ...

Presumed Detection of C5 Molecule in the Interstellar Medium

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2022
The paper suggests the presence of the carbon chain C _5 molecule in translucent, interstellar H i clouds. This species, the only five atom interstellar molecule, observable in dark, translucent clouds, seems to be observable in reasonably dense clouds ...

Molecular Clouds in the Galactic Plane from l = [59.°75, 74.°75] and b = [−5.°25, +5.°25]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
In this paper we present the distribution of molecular gas in the Milky Way Galactic plane from l = [59.75, 74.75]° and b = [−5.25, +5.25]°, using the MWISP ^12 CO/ ^13 CO/C ^18 O emission-line data.

Interstellar cloud collisions [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1985
On decrit les resultats d'une simulation numerique en 3 dimensions de nuages interstellaires isothermes en l'absence de champs magnetiques. Les collisions, en general, ne donnent pas naissance a un ou plusieurs nuages.
