On the formation of density filaments in the turbulent interstellar medium [PDF]
This study is motivated by recent observations on ubiquitous interstellar density filaments and guided by modern theories of compressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence. The interstellar turbulence shapes the observed density structures.

Dynamics of a Supernova Envelope in a Cloudy Interstellar Medium [PDF]
The evolution of a supernova remnant in a cloudy medium as a function of the volume filling factor of the clouds is studied in a three-dimensional axially symmetrical model.

Filiation et novum temporel : le cas d’Interstellar et d’Arrival
Interstellar (Christopher Nolan, 2014) and Arrival (Denis Villeneuve, 2016) each offer a remarkable example of the tension between the affective charge proper to character development – affection, dilemma, sacrifice – and the cognitive distancing proper ...

Jeans instability of interstellar gas clouds in the background of weakly interacting massive particles [PDF]
Criterion of the Jeans instability of interstellar gas clouds which are gravitationally coupled with weakly interacting massive particles is revisited. It is established that presence of the dark matter always reduces the Jeans length, and in turn, Jeans

Metallicity Dependence of Molecular Cloud Hierarchical Structure at Early Evolutionary Stages
The formation of molecular clouds out of H i gas is the first step toward star formation. Its metallicity dependence plays a key role in determining star formation throughout cosmic history.

Refractive interstellar scintillation in pulsar dynamic spectra [PDF]
The evolution of the dynamic spectra of eight pulsars over 16 months is reported. Observations were made at Jodrell Bank at 408 MHz from 1984 September to 1986 January. The changing form of the spectra is interpreted as refractive modulation of diffractive interstellar scintillation.

Prediction of the In-Situ Dust Measurements of the Stardust Mission to Comet 81P/Wild 2 [PDF]
We predict the amount of cometary, interplanetary, and interstellar cosmic dust that is to be measured by the Cometary and Interstellar Dust Analyzer (CIDA) and the aerogel collector on-board the Stardust spacecraft during its fly-by of comet P/Wild 2 ...

The composition of the protosolar disk and the formation conditions for comets [PDF]
Conditions in the protosolar nebula have left their mark in the composition of cometary volatiles, thought to be some of the most pristine material in the solar system.

Galactic civilizations: Population dynamics and interstellar diffusion [PDF]
The interstellar diffusion of galactic civilizations is reexamined by potential theory; both numerical and analytical solutions are derived for the nonlinear partial differential equations which specify a range of relevant models, drawn from blast wave physics, soil science, and, especially, population biology.
