A Catalog of Hα Emission-line Stars and 785 Newly Identified Young Stellar Object Candidates from LAMOST Based on a Deep Learning Method

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
The H α emission line commonly appears in the spectra of many stars and serves as a key indicator for tracing ionized interstellar gas, investigating stellar activity, and studying gas dynamics.

Assignment of the λ1369.13 Diffuse Interstellar Absorption Band and Three Other Far‐Ultraviolet Interstellar Absorption Lines to the CH Molecule

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2001
The three unidentified interstellar lines λλ1368.74, 1369.13, and 1370.87 are here assigned to the CH molecule, including the diffuse interstellar band (DIB) at 1369.13 A. A consistent rotational assignment of the interstellar lines and the 3d-X 2Π laboratory spectrum is presented.

Elemental Abundances in the Diffuse Interstellar Medium from Joint Far-ultraviolet and X-Ray Spectroscopy: Iron, Oxygen, Carbon, and Sulfur

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
In this study, we investigate interstellar absorption lines along the line of sight toward the galactic low-mass X-ray binary Cygnus X-2. We combine absorption line data obtained from high-resolution X-ray spectra collected with the Chandra and XMM ...

Photocleavage of Aliphatic C–C Bonds in the Interstellar Medium

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Ultraviolet (UV) processing in the interstellar medium (ISM) induces the dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons. Aliphatics, including alkanes, are present in different interstellar environments, being prevalently formed in evolved stars; thus, the ...

Interstellar spectral features and telluric absorption lines

open access: yes, 2012
In good quality spectra of stars the weak interstellar absorption lines may be substantially contaminated by telluric lines. Many telluric lines may also simulate interstellar absorptions. To avoid undesirable telluric effects during searches for interstellar absorptions, especially for diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs), we looked for all accessible ...

Measuring Interstellar Carbon Abundance via 158 μm [C ii] Absorption with SOFIA—A Potential Detection and Proof-of-concept for Depletion Studies with Future Far-IR Facilities

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Carbon plays key roles in the interstellar medium (ISM)—as a constituent of dust, as the carrier of the dominant far-infrared (FIR) cooling line, and as a component of various important molecules.
