The detection of circumstellar atomic hydrogen (H i ) via the 21 cm line remains a persistent challenge in planetary nebula (PN) studies, primarily due to contamination from ubiquitous interstellar H i 21 cm emission. In this paper, we report the results

A three-dimensional reconstruction of the interstellar magnetic field toward a star-forming region
Context. The polarized thermal emission from interstellar dust offers a valuable tool for probing both the dust and the magnetic field in the interstellar medium (ISM). However, existing observations only yield the total amount of dust emission along the

Evidence for a multiphase, inhomogeneous interstellar medium in damped Ly alpha systems [PDF]
The large optical depth in absorption of the Ly-alpha line in damped Ly-alpha systems implies that the emission line produced by H2 regions is very broad, since the number of diffusions is very large.

Far infra-red emission lines in high redshift quasars
We present Plateau de Bure Interferometer observations of far infra-red emission lines in BRI 0952-0115, a lensed quasar at z=4.4 powered by a super-massive black hole (M_BH=2x10^9 M_sun).

Intensity mapping—the large-scale mapping of selected spectral lines without resolving individual sources—is quickly emerging as an efficient way to conduct large cosmological surveys. Multiple surveys covering a variety of lines (such as the hydrogen 21

The role of radiative torques in the molecular cloud core L43
Context. Polarized emission from interstellar dust grains is commonly used to infer information about the underlying magnetic field from the diffuse interstellar medium to molecular cloud cores.

Radio Jet Feedback on the Inner Disk of Virgo Spiral Galaxy Messier 58
Spitzer spectral maps reveal a disk of highly luminous, warm (>150 K) H _2 in the center of the massive spiral galaxy Messier 58, which hosts a radio-loud active galactic nucleus (AGN). The inner 2.6 kpc of the galaxy appears to be overrun by shocks from

This thesis presents the search for the \cii 158 $\mu$m emission line, one of the brightest far-infrared (FIR) emission lines, in a selection of $z>6$ (the Universe was less than 1 Gyr old) galaxies. These galaxies have been observed with CARMA and PdBI millimeter interferometers and no \cii nor continuum emission is detected.
