Fourier Transform Spectroscopy/ Hyperspectral Imaging and Sounding of the Environment, 2007Using a newly developed spatial heterodyne spectrometer, we have obtained the first radial velocity resolved observations of interstellar 3727 A emission and confirmed the superb performance of the technique for observing spatially extended faint sources.

First detection of line emission from the hot interstellar medium with solid state detectors
Advances in Space Research, 1981Previously reported enhanced soft X-ray emission from the North-Galactic Polar region supports the theory of a hot interstellar component. This paper reports the first detection of line emission from the hot interstellar component in the North-Galactic-Polar region.

Optical Emission Line Studies and the Warm Ionized Component of the Local Interstellar Medium
International Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1984AbstractObservations of diffuse, galactic Hα, [NII]λ6583, and [SII]λ6716 emission lines provide evidence for a warm (~ 104 K), primarily ionized component of the interstellar medium distributed throughout the galactic disk. This component of the interstellar gas has an electron density ≈ 0.1-0.2 cm-3 and occupies about 10-30% of the interstellar volume.
