Recent Results in Astronomy III: Interstellar Masers
1989This lecture is aimed at reviewing some of the recent results arising from VLBI observations of Galactic objects. Bryan Anderson has discussed stellar VLBI, pulsar observations and the spectacular VLBI data obtained on objects such as SS433. I shall concentrate on molecular masers, the Galactic Centre and the study of the interstellar medium. I make no

INTERSTELLAR H2O MASERS FROM J SHOCKS [PDF]
We present a model in which the 22 GHz H2O masers observed in star-forming regions occur behind shocks propagating in dense regions (preshock density n0 ∼ 106–108 cm−3).

The interstellar methanol masers and their environments
Science in China Series G, 2003To promote the understanding of massive star formation processes, we have studied the 6.6 GHz methanol (CH3OH) masers and their environments—the dense cores and the outer regions of the molecular cloud. The physics of the CH3OH maser or the thermal emission formation region is studied by fitting the observational data of the 6.6 GHz 51–60A+ and the 107

On the relation between Cosmic Masers and Massive Star-Forming Regions
National Radio Science Conference, 2022MASER (Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) emission from cosmic molecules is believed to play a vital role in understanding the early evolutionary stages of the massive star formation.

Masers, Lasers and the Interstellar Medium
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1997This paper discusses recent results obtained by myself and my colleagues in three domains of astrophysics: interstellar supersonic turbulence, circumstellar disks, and natural masers and lasers. S.A. Kaplan, S.B. Pikelner, and I.S. Shklovskii were among those who, 30-40 years ago, laid the foundation of these domains.

Maser Action in Interstellar OH
Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 1968Since 1965 we have been unravelling the curious properties of the intense 18 cm emission lines observed from OH molecules. We are still without a quantitative theory of the emission that might tie the threads together and provide guidelines for the observational work.
