How state transitions balance photosynthetic electron transport in plants – a quantitative study

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 209-229, April 2026.
Summary In plants, the process of state transition regulates the allocation of sunlight energy between Photosystem II (PSII) and PSI. However, the implications of state transitions for harmonizing electron transport rates between photosystems, and a full quantitative picture of this process, remain underexplored.

Ultrafast Dynamics of Organic Exciton–Polaritons

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
This work reveals the conditions required to capture the coherent dynamics of organic exciton–polaritons. The ultrafast relaxation of these collective hybrid states is uniquely observed only when they sit beyond the tail of the molecular absorption. In this condition, they do not enter into equilibrium with intracavity dark states, raising questions ...

Photochemical N‐dealkylation of Tertiary Amines Coupled With Photocharging of Poly(Heptazine Imides)

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 11, 9 March 2026.
Protonated poly(heptazine imide) (H‐PHI) functions as an energy reservoir, thereby facilitating the endothermic dealkylation of triethylamine through a proton‐coupled two‐electron transfer (PC2ET) process. The extent of photocharging is quantitatively described by a molecular‐level descriptor, Ne:Nhept, providing a direct correlation between stored ...

High Resolution Temperature‐Resolved Spectroscopy of the Nitrogen‐Vacancy 1E Singlet State Ionization Energy

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 6, 20 March 2026.
When light is applied to the negatively charged nitrogen‐vacancy (NV−$\mathrm{{NV}^{-}}$) in diamond, an applied magnetic field populates the 1E$\mathrm{^1E}$ singlet state. Wavelength tuned laser excitation probes the 1E$\mathrm{^1E}$ ionization threshold via changes in the NV0$\mathrm{{NV}^{0}}$ photoluminescence (PL) ratio which is the ratio between

The Diarylprolinol Silyl Ethers: After 20 Years Still Opening New Doors in Asymmetric Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 11, 9 March 2026.
Catalysis Rules! The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of diarylprolinol silyl ethers in asymmetric organocatalysis. During the first decade after their discovery, these catalysts have been established as one of the most versatile tools in aminocatalysis. Although now considered mature, recent years have witnessed renewed innovation.

Rh‐Catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] Cycloaddition of Linked Bis(Diynes) Ar‐C≡C‐C≡C‐(CH2)3‐C≡C‐C≡C‐Ar With Quinones: Synthesis and Photophysical Properties of Bis(Arylethynyl)‐Naphthoquinones and Anthraquinones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 11, 16 March 2026.
We report the synthesis bis(arylethynyl)naphtho‐ and anthraquinones via Rh(I)‐catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition reactions. The substrate scope of both quinones and linked bis‐diynes was explored. Microwave irradiation remarkably enhanced yields.
