Osmoregulation in molluscs of the intertidal zone

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1976
Abstract o 1. Gastropods ( Littorina littorea, Purpura lapillus, Patella vulgata ) and bivales ( Mytilus edulis, Scrobicularia plana, Glycymeris glycymeris ) of the littoral area behave as poikilosmotic animals when acclimated gradually to diluted media.

Viral content of a sewage-polluted intertidal zone

Journal of Infection, 1980
Summary Viruses were repeatedly isolated from sewage, seawater and mussels at a sewage polluted intertidal zone. The sites investigated were shown to be grossly polluted by enumeration of sewage indicator bacteria. Although the presence of these bacteria indicated the potential presence of pathogens, their numbers did not correlate with the detection ...

Quantifying Intertidal Zone Species Using Semantic Segmentation

2018 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2018
As anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems accelerates (e.g. warming, acidification, eutrophication, etc), it is essential to build robust datasets that establish biological baseline data and capture long-term trends in shifting species abundance and diversity.

Bay of Fundy Intertidal Zone Sediments

SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1963
ABSTRACT Sedimentation occurs in 4 environments in the Bay of Fundy intertidal zone. These environments are (1) wave-cut benches, (2) estuarine clay flats, (3) tidal flats in lee of bedrock islands, and (4) salt marshes. Thin sediment veneers deposited on a wave-cut bench comprise 75 percent of the intertidal zone sediments of the Bay of Fundy.

Intertidal Zone Biological Activity Optimization Algorithm

This paper proposes a novel heuristic optimization algorithm based on intertidal zone biological activity (Intertidal Zone Biological Activity Optimization, IZBAO-New). Intertidal ecosystems are characterized by distinct tidal rhythms, vertical zone distribution, foraging-risk-avoidance balance, and group collaboration, which provide insights for ...
