Control-Oriented Models for SO Fuel Cells from the Angle of V&V: Analysis, Simplification Possibilities, Performance

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2017
In this paper, we take a look at the analysis and parameter identification for control-oriented, dynamic models for the thermal subsystem of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) from the systematized point of view of verification and validation (V&V). First,

An Interval-Arithmetic-Based Approach to the Parametric Identification of the Single-Diode Model of Photovoltaic Generators

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Parametric identification of the single diode model of a photovoltaic generator is a key element in simulation and diagnosis. Parameters’ values are often determined by using experimental data the modules manufacturers provide in the data sheets ...

Schooling Trajectories and the Development of Brain Dynamics: A Comparative Study of Montessori and Traditional Education

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

Interval arithmetic backpropagation

open access: yesProceedings of 1993 International Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN-93-Nagoya, Japan), 2005
Presents an extension of the backpropagation learning algorithm by using interval arithmetic. The proposed algorithm represents a generalization of backpropagation and contains backpropagation as a particular case. This new algorithm permits the use of training samples and targets which can be indistinct points and intervals.

A Large‐Area Broadband Multimodal Dual‐Resonant Haptic Device for Bidirectional Telerobotic and Augmented Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a large‐area bidirectional human–machine interface integrating electrostatic multimodal tactile sensing with a dual‐resonant haptic actuator. The system enables linear pressure sensing that is decoupled from actuation and stable broadband vibrotactile feedback under dynamic contact conditions, supporting real‐time feedback modulation aligned

Self-verified extension of affine arithmetic to arbitrary order

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2008
Affine Arithmetic (AA) is a self-verifying computational approach that keeps track of first-order correlation between uncertainties in the data and intermediate and final results. In this paper we propose a higher-order extension satisfying the requirements ...

Bounded type interval exchange maps

open access: yes, 2013
Irrational numbers of bounded type have several equivalent characterizations. They have bounded partial quotients in terms of arithmetic characterization and in the dynamics of the circle rotation, the rescaled recurrence time to $r$-ball of the initial ...

Thin‐Film Thermal Sensors on Chitosan Substrates for Sustainable Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Fully transient thin‐film temperature sensors are realized on pure chitosan substrates using Mo‐based RTDs and a‐IGZO/Mo thermistors. The devices exhibit high sensitivity, mechanical flexibility, humidity‐aware operation, and complete dissolution in natural solvents.

An improved affine arithmetic‐based optimization method for district energy systems with uncertainties

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2023
In the process of the district energy system (DES) operation and dispatching, there are various uncertainties brought by the strong coupling of equipment and the fluctuation of internal and external surroundings, and these uncertain parameters are often ...

Fast Reliable Ray-tracing of Procedurally Defined Implicit Surfaces Using Revised Affine Arithmetic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Fast and reliable rendering of implicit surfaces is an important area in the field of implicit modelling. Direct rendering, namely ray-tracing, is shown to be a suitable technique for obtaining good-quality visualisations of implicit surfaces. We present
