Parametric Estimation and Analysis of Lifetime Models with Competing Risks Under Middle-Censored Data

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Middle-censoring is a general censoring mechanism. In middle-censoring, the exact lifetimes are observed only for a portion of the units and for others, we can only know the random interval within which the failure occurs.

Estimators for the interval censoring problem

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2011
We study three estimators for the interval censoring case 2 problem, a histogram-type estimator, proposed in Birg (1999), the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and the smoothed MLE, using a smoothing kernel. Our focus is on the asymptotic distribution of the estimators at a fixed point. The estimators are compared in a simulation study.

Consumers' Willingness to Pay a Premium for Climate‐Friendly Food Production: The Role of Production Method Information and Social Norms

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines whether information about production methods and social norms can increase consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) a price premium for food produced using climate‐friendly farming methods. A randomized survey experiment was conducted with 1568 respondents across Denmark, Lithuania, and Spain, who were assigned to one of four ...

Estimation and Optimal Censoring Plan for a New Unit Log-Log Model via Improved Adaptive Progressively Censored Data

open access: yesAxioms
To gather enough data from studies that are ongoing for an extended duration, a newly improved adaptive Type-II progressive censoring technique has been offered to get around this difficulty and extend several well-known multi-stage censoring plans. This

Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Cooperative Surgery for Gastric Cancer as an Alternative Treatment in Elderly Patients: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In a prospective study of 20 elderly gastric cancer patients who declined gastrectomy, laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) was technically safe and preserved postoperative function. However, as oncological curability cannot be assured in advanced cases, careful selection and informed consent are essential.

Statistical Analysis of Inverse Weibull based on Step-Stress Partially Accelerated Life Tests with Unified Hybrid Censoring Data

open access: yesComputational Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences
Accelerated life testing (ALT) is a primary method for rapidly evaluating product reliability. This paper focuses on statistical inference for the invertedWeibull distribution under a step-stress partially ALT (SSPALT) model with a unified hybrid ...

Prognostic and Predictive Role of Lymph Node Count in Stage II Colon Cancer: A Retrospective Analysis of a Japanese Nationwide Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study analyzed over 3500 patients with stage II colon cancer treated with D3 lymphadenectomy, to reassess the prognostic value of number of harvested lymph node and their role in predicting benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy using a Japanese nationwide cohort.

Independent Prognostic Significance of Perforation in Colorectal Cancer: Insights From a Propensity Score‐Matched Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Perforated colorectal cancer (PCC) is considered to have a poor prognosis; however, it remains unclear whether this is attributable to perforation itself or to perforation‐related clinicopathological factors. In this study, we analyzed prognosis using propensity score matching with perforation‐related factors and demonstrated that perforation is an ...
