An Observation-Driven Random Parameter INAR(1) Model Based on the Poisson Thinning Operator

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
This paper presents a first-order integer-valued autoregressive time series model featuring observation-driven parameters that may adhere to a particular random distribution.

Interval Estimations of Building Heating Energy Consumption using the Degree-Day Method and Fuzzy Numbers

open access: yesBuildings, 2018
The purpose of this paper is to propagate the input uncertainties of the degree-day method to estimate the building heating energy consumption as numerical intervals. While it is common to use average or expected values (e.g., Typical Meteorological Year)

Interval estimation of trigonometrical splines [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Quite often, it is necessary to quickly determine variation range of the function. If the function values are known at some points, then it is easy to construct the local spline approximation of this function and use the interval analysis rules.

Interval Estimation Naïve Bayes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Recent work in supervised learning has shown that a surprisingly simple Bayesian classifier called naïve Bayes is competitive with state of the art classifiers. This simple approach stands from assumptions of conditional independence among features given the class.

Nonparametric Estimation of the Interval Reliability [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2014
The interval reliability of a repairable system is the probability that the system is operating at a specified time and will continue to operate for a specified interval of time.

Estimators for the interval censoring problem

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2011
We study three estimators for the interval censoring case 2 problem, a histogram-type estimator, proposed in Birg (1999), the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and the smoothed MLE, using a smoothing kernel. Our focus is on the asymptotic distribution of the estimators at a fixed point. The estimators are compared in a simulation study.

Measurement Interval Effect on Photovoltaic Parameters Estimation

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Recently, the estimation of photovoltaic parameters has drawn the attention of researchers, and most of them propose new optimization methods to solve this problem.

Assessing standardized contrast effects in ANCOVA: Confidence intervals, precision evaluations, and sample size requirements.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Standardized effect sizes and confidence intervals are useful statistical assessments for comparing results across different studies when measurement units are not directly comparable.

Security analysis of the decoy method with the Bennett–Brassard 1984 protocol for finite key lengths

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
This paper provides a formula for the sacrifice bit-length for privacy amplification with the Bennett–Brassard 1984 protocol for finite key lengths, when we employ the decoy method.

Confidence Intervals for the Long-Term Noise Indicators Using the Kernel Density Estimator

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2016
A non-classical model of interval estimation based on the kernel density estimator is presented in this paper. This model has been compared with interval estimation algorithms of the classical (parametric) statistics assuming that the standard deviation ...
